Hi there,

I have been looking on the forum for some information regarding doing an ED visa in Penang.

My situation is that I am thinking whether i should go to Penang or Vientiane to apply for the ED visa.

I have already applied for 2 TR visa in Penang back to back in the last couple of months and my current TR is expiring hence I'm gonna apply for an ED visa right now.

My worry is whether it could be a possible problem to apply for the ED visa in Penang, given that i already did 2 TR visa from their embassy.

Does anyone has a suggestion or past similar experience and could offer some insight?

Would it be simply easy to go to Vientiane?  I don't really like Vientiane and would prefer spending a few days down in Penang if I had to choose.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

What I would like to know is, how long does it take to do the tourist visa in Penang? Also 24 hours like everywhere else? Thx :)

Same as most others. Apply the morning of one day and pick up the next afternoon.

It doesn't matter that you already have 2 TR Visas from Penang, this has no bearing when you apply for a ED Visa

Thank you for your answer.

Another question popped in my mind regarding the 20k that the immigration agent might ask at the border.

So far i only read that they tend to ask people on repetitive TR visa randomly. what are the chances that they ask 20k show when your arrive on a ED visa ??

thank you

It's very unlikely however in the current climate it's always best to go prepared

You will not need a ticket out of the country to apply for the non-ed visa.

Not sure about that. It might be best to contact one of the agents to confirm what is needed.

you mean an agent in Penang?

My thai shcool already prepared all the required documents so i thought that would be enough + the form to fill up at the agency.

ok thank you , i will double check with them.

on a general basis would you say that Vientiane is easier than going to Penang for an ED visa ?
