SUPHANBURI: -- A 48 year old man was electrocuted after he went up a tree to cut some branches to make some extra money.

Somphong Buajan was found 13 meters up a roadside "sadao" tree yesterday. The electrical authorities had to cut the power and retrieve the body using a bucket attachment.

The accident happened on the Kok Muang to Sa Bua Thong road in U-Thong district of Suphanburi.

Sugar cane plantation owner Manat Phophrom, 52, said Somphong worked for him as a crop sprayer.

But instead of doing his job he had scaled the tree to cut some branches to sell to make some extra money on the side.

Police said the body and fallen branches had marks consistent with an electrical short circuit.

Quite sure.

He must have climbed quite high.

And the "low" voltage cables below are usually isolated.

He was obviously following Thai safety regulations he was wearing a hard hat in case of a fall

The person wearing the safety helmet is the engineer recovering the body!
