I keep hearing your alowd to border crossing per year. I have none in my passport what so ever. But I do have a passport nearly full with Tourists visa. So should I use one or 2 of these crossing. I am from the UK and believe I get 30 days what I can then extend for 30 days. This would mean I will save room in my passport a bit of money and a lot of time. Is this a bad move will this affect any visa applications in the future? Do I not want any of these stamps In my passport if I can help it. Will I be denied entry for some reason?

Two "land" border crossings for an exempt entry per calendar year, is the rule.  The key is to use a friendly border-crossing for this - preferably with the ability to travel for a visa in the rare-case of denial.  Avoid Poipet/Aranyaprathet for sure, and I would choose either Laos crossings or the friendlier crossings to Cambodia.  The Malaysian crossings would probably work, but reports from that area tend to be mixed - needing to stay out a day, etc.

Thanks what's the closest friendly border crossing from pattaya?

Flying not a good ideal fro me to many tourists visas so. I would be worried I would be pulled up by the IO.

And I am thinking of a hassle free visa run there and back in 12 hours no hotels.

UJ is correct - Ban Packard is the closest.  If you have a car / moto to drive, that is the best choice.

I usually go to Ban Laem, which is a few KM north of Ban Packard, only because I have more transport options to that crossing.  In addition to "visa run" companies (where you pay double+, but they handle transport and visa-processing), you can take a minibus direct from Pattaya, or go to Chanthaburi, then find the mini-bus to the Ban Laem border-crossing which operates out of an office behind the local Robinsons.

What makes you think that you pay double + while using a "visa run" company?

both borders, Ban laem and Ban Pakkard are OK, they will stamp two times per calendar year.

I have asked some visa-run companies how much, and seen their signs with the price, but always wound up making the run solo - not only for cost-reasons, but primarily because I prefer beginning my traveling at 9 or 10 AM - not 6 ( = wiped out from lack of sleep by waking up at 5AM).  A direct-van to the Ban Laem border from Tesco-Lotus Threppasit is 400 Baht one-way - with departure times as late as 10AM.

But I am not knocking the services for those who prefer it - they take care of the run through no-man's land and haggling to get the Cambodian VOA, etc.  There is one "VIP" visa-run service out of Queen Victoria Pub in Pattaya that even has a van with 6 captain's chairs in the back, versus the usual "cram 'em in" seats; that option looks very comfortable.

An occasional visa exempt entry should not cause any issues. Certainly, it will not have any impact on visa applications. What you meed to be careful of is that many visa exempt entries (currently 6+ since 2015) will cause your history of entries to be alerted on the immigration official's screen and prompt the official to subject you to  increased scrutiny as a genuine tourist. This could cause you grief in the future, especially when entering via airports.

I think it is wiser to reserve visa exempt entries for emergencies, such as when you expect to be able to return with a visa but, for some reason, ultimately cannot.

You will also use two pages in your PP each time you enter Camb' , one full page sticker (visa) and 4? stamps on the next page unless you get an e-visa prior to doing the run.

You did mention a nearly full passport.

That makes the run same priced as "visa run" companies, around THB 2,400.-. Your first post indicate that they double charge which I can not see.

Make sure you get the correct web site. Sbould be around 30$. Rip-off sites exist and charge up to 90$.

Also check the crossing you use accepts e-visa, not all do.

Search on TV for more details.

My Ex GF used to pay about 1500 THB. But I am not sure if she had to pay for A visa for Cambodia as she was a Filipino.

Website is here: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/

They can only be used at the Poi Pet and Koh Kong crossings.

Does Poipet allow out/in to Thailand same day with e-visa ?

I don't know so hence the question.

I have seen reports of people doing a in/out to Cambodia using a e-visa.

On the Thai side it would make no difference.

That is a decent price - only about 600 Baht overprice to get everything handled - fair enough and good for a newbie, especially.
I stand corrected!

when you been the last time in Ban Laem?

I think they charge you at least THB 1,700.- including out/in at Cambodian side.

Juice 777 i would keep the exempt in your pocket as a fall back. You obviously know the score on TR and are pretty clued up on where to go path of leadt resistance so to speak. Why rock the boat at the moment. Stick with what you know best is my advise for what its worth.

Plus if you get another TV it would give you plenty of time to get a new passport if you only have 4 pages left.

No - but you have to insist they take your dollars - $30 + 100 Baht 'tip' to stop their whining.  Carry exact change.  They will try to claim they only take Baht at an idiotic exchange-rate, when their own national currency is dollarized - stay cool, smile, and place $30 (~960 Baht) + 100 Baht on the table.  Don't show any Thai Baht - "only have dollars" - plus maybe an extra 20 Baht note in your wallet.  Show your previous Cambodia VOAs (if you have them), so they won't think you are green and exploitable.  Then proceed with filling out the application calmly, like you've done this 1000 times.

One could possibly get the visa for face-value if willing to sit there a long time, but not worth it to me.  Same day back should be 300 Baht tip vs 100 Baht or 400 Baht max.

To anyone going DIY - ignore all touts - everyone talking to you from the moment you get close to the border is lying and scamming about everything.  Smile and "No Thank You" to everyone.  Go straight to the VOA office across the street from the Immigration in/out windows.

I used Ban Laem about two years ago, and received the correct Cambodia visa price of US$ 30, and was lucky enough to avoid the same day in/out fee. I actually find it easier to get the correct visa fee at Ban Laem than at Poipet. and, for some reason, I usually avoid the in/out fee. Independent travel to Ban Laem is a little time consuming, but otherwise not too bad.

Probably right, but I was just trying to avoid going to Savannakhet. Maybe I will just use 1. I am not looking forward to the hassle of getting a new passport. But I am looking forward to picking up a few tourist visas in Cambodia. After I have a fresh passport with no visas in it. I haven't been for over 10 years and want to see how much it's changed.

If I get a new passport do I have to Transfer any Visas over. I would prefer not to get a new passport and already have Tourist visa in it.

Yes but its painless i belive you get. A letter back with new passport take old and new to immigration and they do whatever it is they do.

For you in Pattaya getting a new uk passport should be a breeze key visa do it all for you 5k plus passport cost. I belive there over the road from biģ C there's another company to cant remember what its called.

So all you have to do is fill in the forms give it all to them and sit back and wait for new passport. It might be worth your while forking out for a jumbo 48 page one.

So I would better of getting a TV then going on 1 or 2 border crossing. Then that way there won't be a TV in my new passport. And I will be able to get 2 TVs in a row from Cambodia for a change.
