Isoc to be restructured, with US “Homeland Security” model

 

The government and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) are in the process of restructuring the Internal Security Operation Command (Isoc) by following the model of the US Homeland Security Department, security sources said.

 

The restructuring of Isoc is intended to reorganise the country’s security measures and systems to cope with new security threats.

 

The move also aims to develop an operational system to link with other Asean member countries to deal with the problems of human trafficking, illegal migrants and economic crimes affecting regional security.

Like when my boss goes abroad to visit businesses and comes back saying, "In so-and-so, they do it like this. Let's use their model".

 

I have to explain that her staff can't even remember when meetings are, or even make it on time. Without the proper training, pay structure and benefits - it ain't happening. Life doesn't work like that.

If they plan to implement the DHS model, then one can expect the BTS backpack checkers will also begin to selectively grope the genitals of 'randomly selected riders' in the name of national security.

Thought that the vehicular death toll was the worst problem in Thailand .    There must be an expectation of future bombings.  Not a pleasant thought.
