cmon guys ...the tourist numbers for Pattaya will always remain high ...-----at least until they do that re-development of walking street as reported yesterday......then the numbers will really plummet. And the "high-end" ladies can stroll Thailand's " rodeo drive in pattaya"......to buy their (fake)  gucci, chanel etc in peace without the hordes of sex- tourists.

They make quote a rise in tourism - but it certainly is not 'repeat tourism' - unless you're coming here for something a little more 'shady' shall we say. And it seems even that's going if they have their way

It is exactly like that.  Many of the hi end girls have in their lifes the time and the money to do the whole circus  like yoga, fitness, healthy nutrition, facelifting, botox, silicone implants, waxing, sexy french underwear,  etc.
Many are slim and good looking in the appropriate lighting.
Even many give the suitable candidates free drinks. 
A pleasant change to the standard "you buy me Ladydrink" procedure.

I do not understand the entire criticism of this cunning plan, to fly in such girls.

You make statements that are untrue, and when called on them, claimed it's just "virtual", as if that makes a difference.

There are no real or virtual brothels for farangs in Pattaya.

I think I already pointed out that the "real" hi end tourists do not come to Thailand, nor will they. It's just never going to attract the Monte Carlo crowd, unless they legalise casinos and spend a few trillion baht on infrastructure. On that I'm not holding my breath.

.. helicopter pads will also need to be built .. And all the common people will have to be removed .. You never see great unwashed in Monaco ..

Does she realise that the so called "sleazy" side exists in every city and town in Thailand, and the Thai scene dwarfs anything relating to tourists?

My lady friend working at the Coconut Bar complained about

horrible low season earnings , inundated by masses of " quality-

-tourists " who clogged the road along Beach Rd up to the PIER

at the far end of Walking St.  CLOGGING , but spend very little .....

That is the REALITY  !!

.... and YESSSS - arrivals from India & China is up through

the ROOF ...... but look at the " For Rent " and " For Sale " signs.

the Landlords are as greedy - if not " more greedy " than ever .

They can afford it , to sit out another season .

But the poor " independent operators " have to survive on bare

minimums - being squeezed by money lenders & owners .....

There's certainly one thing the Thais are good at: killing the golden goose!

 

I just went to Phnom Penh: ugly (Golden Sorya Mall) and old (beach promenade) freelancers, hookers that don't look at you in the bar streets, deserted hostess bars, greedy freelancers... The Cambodians did a great job in killing the nightlife there! Mind you, I spent only 25% there of what I wanted to spend.

 

I'm glad I experienced Thailand's nightlife around the turn of the century. Everywhere beer bars in Pattaya, where there aren't any now; from all sides a 'hello, hansum man'... For the single male, I think, Asia is getting less attractive. Good luck, Pattaya, in coercing families there, to filthy beaches, a sea full of sewage and trash, and motorbike bag-snatchers...

Since when is getting on a packed ferry to Ko Larn "yachting"?  Oh, being beat to death in a speed boat made of plywood going to Ko Larn must be " yachting".  Then you can swim in the "crystal blue water" with 5000 other people of which half, or more, just walked out to take a piss.  ROTFLMFAO!

Just because posters on TVF don't see them, it doesn't mean they ain't around. Take a trip to Larn and see how many are eating in the sea food restaurants.

8 million sounds about right to me.  But, it's not 8 million North Americans and Western Europeans.  So, we still get these ridiculous postings about Pattaya being the slowest or the deadest this person or that person has ever seen it.  Apparently all these non-North Americans and non-Western European tourists appear as shrubbery, or are totally invisible, hence Pattaya being dead.

Chances are, you are right. But lowering the tariffs on wine, to a reasonable level, would perhaps begin to attract at least some of the higher end tourists, that Thailand has done such a fabulously good job of losing over the last 10 years. Those kinds of tourists spend anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 a day, and they expect premier everything. Including wine and sommelier service, at the hotels they spend 35,000 baht a night on. It is very hard for them to currently get that.

My sister is I suppose high end. She came to see me stayed at the NOVATEL suite 1 week. Went outside and said this place is filthy! 

I wonder how many high end woman will come for what exactly ?
