Patee Sarasin has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of Nok Airlines Plc.

In a letter dated Thursday to inform the Stock Exchange of Thailand, Brian Leslie Jeffery, chairman of the Nok Air board of directors, said Patee’s resignation as Nok Air CEO took effect on Thursday.

Patee has been appointed deputy chairman of the Nok Air board of directors, the letter added.

The board of directors also appointed Piya Yodmanee as the new CEO of Nok Air with immediate effect on Thursday.

Pattee has been Nok Airlines CEO since 2004.

Is he the business genius who said that people could fly with other airlines if they didn't like Nok? Well, seemingly they've followed his advice and now he's had to resign.

A cardinal rule in business (especially one with so much competition) is to always respect the customers and listen to their complaints. Never think you're better than your customers.

Yes he has resigned, nothing said about having to but considering he has been appointed to the board as Deputy Chairman, I'd say that what you have posted appears meaningless. :wai:

Yes, big CEO's are fired all the time in Thailand. The idea that he was asked to resign to save face for all is completely inconceivable in the land of face.

As for being given a position on the board - wow. Not in a country where 'jobs for the boys' is rife  A deputy as well. Does he get to wear a badge and a little hat?

He is the son of a former Private Secretary to the King, and was more of an advertising chap who stumbled into the airline business - hence the Nok Air Calendar. He always seemed detached from day-to-day ops, and was often "on vacation" when Nok encountered "turbulence".

I stand out in Thailand because I’m totally different. I know exactly what I want to be, and I don’t give a damn what other people think.

So what is it that you dislike about the guy or is it just Thai bashing or the plain old tall poppy syndrome? Maybe a combination hey? :wai:

"I’m always looking at how we can differentiate Nok Air from everyone else. "

Well you could do that by fixing the numerous problems with your website and react to complaints etc:

- Website shows initial fare, plus if you want check-in luggage 3,800Baht for 15K one-way DM to CM.

I telephone to their call centre (English option doesn't work, told them numerous time before it doesn't work, never fixed) and ask if 3,800Baht is correct, answer 'No, it's 300Baht' I ask if they can correct the amount showing on their website 'No, that's another department, cannot contact them but never mind please go ahead and make your booking' But why should I pay 3,800 on-line if the correct amount is 300. Response, 'no, no, 3,800 is wrong it's 300Baht'. So please correct it and I will then make a booking. Ten supervisor says that I should understand that they cannot contact the other department because it would not be polite.   I give up and book Lion Air.

- Lack of customer service attitude at check-in, and zero attenton to customer service at departure gate

where they never properly check the name and photo.

- Sens a complaint e.mail re above, never receive an answer.

- Travel insurance: the benfits listed on the NOK site are different to the benefits listed on the insurance company website. I call Nok and they don't listen and say 'it's not important'

Why bother with NOK, much better service with LION Air - good listeners, always a 'can do' and polite response. Call centre staff always quickly double check to be sure of the answer, 5 stars.

Yes, it's Thai bashing. Nothing at all to do with his 'Marie Antoinette' attitude towards his customers. And when I criticised the CEO of American Airlines after an unfavourable incident, it was American bashing. It was based purely on their nationalities and not on their actions.

Some people form attitudes and opinions about people and things in a scientific way. Based on information, facts, reputations, etc. Not me though. I base it on nationality.

Some people are just mindless optimists who are detrimental to any form of development.
