The BP had an article about depositors losing their money. One guy put money in a bank, it was purchased after the crash of the 90's and now the new bank says they don't know where his money went - sue them.

Another story was a lady who lost her book - and someone used it. No signatures - no slips - nothing. That's obvious collusion but what was her recourse?

Another story was of a time deposit that just disappeared. The banks apparently told the depositor to go pound sand, sue us.

Any credibility to these stories?

Because of the one guy who claimed they used his pin and card when he had possession of it, I figured I would open two accounts at every bank. One with card and one without. Only keep enough money on the account with the card and keep the majority of money on the account without any access other than passbook and my signature + passport.

One would hope.
