Jai Dee Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 MOAC expediting 13 projects in line with government policies The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) is expediting 13 projects in line with the policies of the interim government, while reconsidering those initiated by the Thaksin administration including the One Million Cows project. The 13 projects stick to His Majesty the King’s initiatives such as the Sufficiency Economy and the New Agricultural Theory. The “monkey cheeks” and the other projects concerning drought problems will be implemented within this year as the ministry expects that the water problem will be worsened by the El Nino phenomenon. The government allocated a budget of 6.5 billion baht to MOAC for this year. According to the MOAC minister, Thira Sutabutr (ธีระ สูตะบุตร), the ministry is going to ask the government for approval to dissolve the SPV company which used to be in charge of the One Million Cows project. After this, the ministry will authorize the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives to run the project and buy cows back from the farmers who had earlier received cows by the SPV company. The One Million Cows project will change into the Commercial Promotion of Thai Cows and Buffaloes Project. The cows used are of the Kamphaengphet strain. As for the Ua-arthorn Ponds Project, another project of the last government, the ministry will revise the construction plan of the ponds and build rubber dams.
