lopburi3
If an emergency you could plead for earlier but normally they want with between 30 and 21 days remaining on your permitted to stay stamp.

Jingthing
Now that we are on this general topic, what about when entering Thailand on a one entry Non immigrant O visa, and then going for the extension based on retirement for the FIRST time? OK, I assume the application for the extension would be during the same time period as above (30 to 21 days before first entry expires). However, on the extension request form, do you ask for a full year extension or rather 90 days times 3 (270 days) rather than the whole year? I know the form asks you to state the number of days you are requesting, but I had the impression that if you already used the first 90 days (the one entry) you couldn't get a year extension, only a year which includes the first entry already used. In short, in such a case, how many days should be put on the form?
lopburi3
Just put down 365 (leap years included) and let immigration take care of the rest. Your actual extension of stay the first time will be less than a year as your "stay" started on the entry date prior to your application.
