I have lived here more years than i care to remember and the amount of corruption still ceases to amaze me.

And the PM seems to be very quiet and not actively overt about dealing with corruption! :post-4641-1156693976:

I wonder why? :whistling:

Perhaps 'corruption' is officially a part of this feudal society.

History may judge him and his cronies but seemingly they are not concerned, only living for the here and now at the expense of the 'lower classes'.

The term "control freaks" comes to mind.

I would differ with the  "control freaks" label. I see it as power (maybe the same as what you were thinking).  Many societies breed corruption. Greed? Most likely. Obviously, certain countries frown more upon greed and corruption. Most of the time, that corruption affects the average citizen ...it takes away from services that it would normally provide. It happens everywhere....Russia....occasionally in the US....many African countries, etc, etc. When average citizens are helpless re: safeguards to this corruption, there are two choices - opposition or apathy. And when less-democratic nations are involved, then the peoples' voice is squelched- just like bullying. So stop the corruption within the Gov't agencies and then perhaps citizens will gain a more favorable attitude towards their leaders. Problem is the Junta is separate from these crooks. So dear Junta....if you give a f..k, then restore confidence within your citizens. When all of these stories of corruption  meet the press, why would you expect Thai citizens to have any hope of righteousness? Set an example in the right way!.

Yup, leadership starts from the top.

But when, or will, it start? :whistling:

As mentioned by someone earlier, this is mere chicken feed. The outrageous transfer recently of Pol Lt Col Pongporn to prevent him exposing the role of big and important temples as recipients and participants in state funding of temples is a matter of great shame and reveals the refusal of the government to seriously reform Buddhism.

Would seem some have lost the plot on what actual Buddhism is supposed to be all about, even the bible mentions the likelihood of a rich man passing through the eye of a needle being more likely that ascension to heaven. Seems a few F's on the karmic scorecard will be in order"

So how rich is a dead man? I'd think once you die you get thru that needle because "you can't take it with you" thing.  That bible has some misleading writing if not misleading interpretations.

'Misleading interpretations' to always suit the followers' own thinking. Can (and probably does) apply to many religions and belief systems.

Buddha, Allah and God would be ashamed by the twisted teachings of man for their own ends.

Problem is in order to get into high ranking positions applicants have to part with some serious cash.

Then when they get their high ranking positions they then screw as much money out of it as possible to recoup what they laid out.

This will never stop until people are awarded positions on merit, and not on how much money they laid out.

Clearly you don't understand how the system works. The National Buddhism Office gives the money to the temples, thus making merit. They are so pleased with the kind offering that they voluntarily return half the money to the kind officials, thus also making merit. Merit is being made all round, as the public also like to give oodles of money to the abbot's building fund. Abbot's are ecstatic and can offer serious indulgences to all who donate. Everyone's happy, as it is all about merit! :whistling:

Mathew 19:24 "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

Try to get it right.
