Trang police are hunting a jealous Thai man who murdered his young wife then repeatedly stabbed her adoptive mother who tried to intervene.

The wife was found dead at the scene while the older woman died at hospital shortly after. She had 13 stab wounds.

Huay Yort police were called to the Tonyor restaurant and karaoke on a roadside in Trang in Thailand's south.

In sleeping quarters for staff at the property they found 25 year old Nutcharee Upatham from Songkhla dead face up on a bed. She was dressed in a sarong and had been stabbed.

The owner of the karaoke, Siriphan Limchun, 51, had already been taken to hospital where she died shortly after. She had thirteen stab wounds to her chest, ribs and arms.

Police are hunting for the husband of Nutcharee called Kittisak "Bang" Petchmeesee, 39, who fled on a motorcycle following the incident, reported Daily News.

Nareumon Limchun, 50, the younger sister of the owner who died was not present but told reporters that her sister had adopted Nutcharee after she had worked in the karaoke lounge for many years.

About five months ago Nutcharee had married Kittisak. Nareumon said that her sister was attacked as she tried to intervene and save Nutcharee from the attack.

Police said that it was a case of jealousy. There had been many arguments between the newlyweds and the wife wanted to end the relationship but the husband refused.

After a separation in which one of the pair went away they came back into close proximity and this led to the attack.
