Myanmar workers rescued from labour abuses in Chachoengsao

By The Nation

Labour officials have rescued eight girls and two women, all fromMyanmar, from labour abuses in Chachoengsao.

Apinya Sucharittanan, deputy director general of the Labour Welfare and Protection Department, said the rescue was carried out on Friday following tips-off by the Labour Rights Promotion Network Foundation (LPN).

The LPN learnt that the 10 Myanmar workers were abused at a noodle shop in Chachoengsao’s Bang Pakong district, so it alerted the department.

The department dispatched a labour protection taskforce to check the shop and found that its 10 workers were paid lower than the minimum wage and the employer owed them back pay. The workers were also physically abused.

Eight of them are under 18 years old and they were put under protection of the LPN foundation pending legal action against the employer.

Yeah! That´s right. Teach this useless excuse of an employer, that they can do what they want.
Sinking so low that he pay lower than minimum wage. That´s real low. Later add that he was after with payments too. What an arse. Better they advertise with the shops name, so that people can stay away from his food.

I think a better title would be: Birmese slaves rescued in Chachoengsao.
