Jimbo71
I am applying for a job that requires a criminal record check over 5 years, as I've only been back in the UK for 3 they require one from Thailand. Can I do this from the Thai embassy in London or do I have to travel back to Thailand? Also what's the cost and how long does it take if I do it through the embassy or travel to Thailand in person. I was not working in Thailand, I was living off my savings, so I never had a work permit. If anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. ubonjoe
You can only apply for a Thai police clearance certificate by mail to the service center for getting them. See: http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/ This file on the website has inffor doing it mail: http://pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/filedownload/infomation-service-2.pdf It can be a complicated process to do it by mail. If you look on the left side of the page there is a button with "By Out source" on it that takes you to this website for an agent that might easier than doing it yourself. https://www.a-plusservice.com/
mstevens
What UbonJoe says about the process being painful by post is correct. You need to submit a set of fingerprints and the Thai police are VERY fussy about the quality of the fingerprints provided. I got fingerprinted at a police station in New Zealand and the Thais said that they weren't clear and I had to get them redone and submit them again, adding, literally, another couple of months to the time to finally get my police clearance certificate. Each of the two sets looked identical to me. My one piece of advice for anyone who needs a police clearance certificate from Thailand is to go in and apply for it yourself in Bangkok if at all possible. Doing it from your own country or as I did, from a third country, is a giant pain in the you know where!
thrilled
My wife had to go to the main police office in Bangkok for A background check. It took 6 weeks and they mailed her the paper.
datcook
Do what I did - marry the daughter of a middle rank policeman get visit the "boss" of the large police station and discuss Certificate took 4 days
mgl66
Apply by post is 100 baht and takes up to 8 weeks. Apply in person.1000 baht same day. You have to state what country is for as it does not work like the UK using Disclosure Scotland. I can't see the problem with applying for a disclosure in the UK using Disclosure Scotland as this accommodates the facility for previous addresses both in the UK and abroad. Applying through Disclosure Scotland online is the same as applying for a police check at a police station in the UK without the hassle and carries the same weight for employers. Its a far easier method

How do you actually get it while residing in Thailand? Is there a way that can be done? I understand that the NCIC requires a form with your finger prints. geordiel
As per previous post X2 sets of fingerprints from your home country police. Better to fill out and sign form and send with fingerprints, certified passport copy , SAE etc to a friend in Thailand who can take in person to police in Bangkok. 1000 thb same day. I did this a year ago.
