"We'll pop down when we wake up in the morning":  Break-in victim says Pattaya police can't be bothered.

A Buriram woman said she returned to her room late at night in Pattaya to find it had been broken into and ransacked.

But she said that when she went to Pattaya police they just told her they would be around in the morning and gave her an officer's phone number.

Though there may be more to the story after it was reported on Tnews.

The owner of the rooms said that four men gained entry with keys from outside and went in the rooms. The men claimed they were police themselves working on a drugs bust.

She had no idea how they had the keys.

She was told in no uncertain terms to stay out of it.

Saraporn Butsawa, 33, from Buriram said she didn't feel safe in her own room.

All she wanted was the police to take an interest but they couldn't be bothered.

Tnews named deputy sergeant Suwan Soapie as the officer handling Saraporn's inquiry.

A video showed the state of her room after it was ransacked.

Saraporn was not sure if anything had been taken.

Quite honestly, I would consider it "news" when the police did bother to turn up. At least, turn up without you having to pay them first. When my son got punched to the ground off his bike and the bike was stolen, they wanted 10,000 Baht before they would even get up to go look around. I strongly doubt their ability to investigate anything properly at the best of times, so if they turn up or don't, you're pretty much in the same boat.

Police here are a total waste of time, they only get up off their fat lazy  a+++s if money is handed over.

I have had a few run ins with them over the years.

Last 1 only 2 days ago, wife parks outside the bank, i am in the passenger seat.

Honda brio is reversing to park behind us, nearside wing mirror scrapes our pickup, driver starts driving away, i blast the horn for maybe 20 seconds, so she finally stops, comes over says i am sorry, i told her you stay there till my wife comes back.

I busy got to go she says, i have you on camera, your car number as well, so she stays.

Wife comes back, suddenly not the other drivers fault.

Off to the police station, policeman comes out, other driver is maybe 20 years old, and very sexy.

Tells the police farang driving hit my car <deleted>!!

Police are going to fine me for damaging the other car:cheesy: Get out the car now, you farang have a problem.

Ok says i, please hold my catheter bag, then get 2 strong boys lift me out. Whilst this is going on my wife is in a blind panic, i am saying to her !! shut up woman !! let this clown make a fool of himself, we will have the last laugh.

Suddenly not a police problem, fix it yourself, and the silly prick legs it.

If I would have to wait till morning till they drop by, my answer would be: "Don't bother to come as I have shot the burglar dead already!" They will be there within minutes, I tell you.

Sergeant Suwan Soapie

And, how did my name wind up in the news? I do make a point of of being the cleanest man in BKK or Pattaya when I'm there, but?

Jokes aside, love that name.

Nah, the cop was getting a soapie when she called. End of story. I don't blame him.

Demanded 10K out of my wife once where a speeding, drunk moto driver hit her, in the wrong lane, no driver's license, no insurance on his part, because she had a farang last name.

I'm changing my name to Soapie. Me like Soapie's.

Sad to hear. Too bad you could not have run away (or stepped aside) yourself. Far too many double standards in Thailand. White boy, blame it on him!

It would be called racism anywhere else but the Land of Oz.

Thanks. Monty Python was never all that funny to me, but now I seem to find a sketch for every occasion in Thailand.

IT WASN'T ME!!!

You should have to the cop you were "incapable of movement due to a long shag" like John Cleese.

In the UK, the Police will rarely if ever turn up to a house robbery. If they do, it may be days later and they will merely file a report. This is a none story and just one more excuse for RTP bashing, which seems to be a major sport on this forum.   They are not perfect, but show me a police force in the world that is.

You say posters like me are just RTP bashing.

Well you are wrong, i posted a 100% correct accurate report about what happened to me on thursday, that is not RTP bashing, it is telling what they are really like.

Another point i cannot even guess how many millions of baht i have lost because of the corrupt actions of the police here.

Same in the states.....

Car stolen? Be out Thurs AM - stolen on Tues....

Break in or attempted/vandals.....Will take a phone report....

Dangerous dog.....Will leave a message for an animal control officer - probably tomorrow when they report in....

People with guns reported? Oh that's the west side of the street, our border is the street center line - call the ------------police dept - literally 30 feet difference & of course a man was shot & bled to death.....They wouldn't cross the street to assist.....

CCTV of inside store theft - don't even bother if nobody hurt....

To be fair, police forces in the UK aren't particularly urgent in their response to burglary calls unless you think the intruders are still in the premises.

We were burgled and the police came the next day, followed few hours later by scene of crimes officer who I had to show the finger prints too! Another time several teenagers were breaking into a neighbors and woke the missus. I dialed 999 and they were there like jack flash with dogs too. Detective came to my office later that morning for a statement.

The response to an after event is comparable. Not sure how the BiB would react to a live one though.

Double standards is pretty much the norm and racism is alive and well. Keep your head down don’t upset any Thai’s and you will be relatively OK. If you have a traffic accident/legal dispute etc with a Thai then you will probably not be OK. Don’t complain about the Thai neighbors barking dogs, loud music, and certainly never get aggressive with a Thai  or white boy you are not going to be OK. It’s a case of suck it all up or go home. I have been here for 12 years and have had enough, House is sold and we are headed for home. The only reason I have stuck it out for so long is that I work overseas and when I have been home (in Thailand) it’s been time to leave by the time I am getting too wound up. We are all second class citizens over here!!

you hear this all the time, a simple break in will never be a high priority for any police anywhere, what is it that people think they are going to do if they arrive in minutes with sirens blasting, yes it is a crime scene and can be swiped for fingerprints etc and evidence stored for future reference but that can be done the next day, now get on the phone and say there is a burglar in your house or someone has been assaulted or worse then that is an entirely different matter.

As for the topic of this thread................like I said already - there is something sinister going on here and it is difficult to see exactly what from the reported news story. This girl had her apartment ransacked by people reported to have a key for entry and they also claimed to be police and it seems she was told (threatened) to "leave it - let it go" ........................really ?

Mr Pilotman, where can I buy a pair of your rose-coloured spectacles? You've been here 8 years and you've not yet fallen foul of the kwaistone cops?  You obviously don't travel on Thai roads; you don't own a bar/business that requires a contribution to the police Benevolent fund.

Police here are judge/jury & executioner.  There is no need for courts here, the RTP decide what is prosecutable AKA profitable.
