A mother has admitted to police in Thailand's southern murder capital that she hired a relative to have him murdered.

Fifty three year old Apaporn was taken to one side at her son's funeral in Nakorn Sri Thammarat and told she was under arrest.

Officers interviewed her in a car outside the funeral fearing unrest if relatives knew what she had done.

The mother told police chief Triwanchai Ekpornpich yesterday that she had suffered at the hands of her son Sarot, 36. She said he assaulted her many times.

He intimidated her into selling land to pay for his drug habit until she could stand it no longer.

She also said her son had threatened relatives with an M16 when he didn't get his way.

Sarot was found dead on October 9th in La-ai sub-district of Chawang district.

Chawang police soon got a warrant for the arrest of his mother and his step father who will be charged with knowing about the plot but doing nothing to stop it.

Apaporn said she hired closed relative Wichit, 46,  to execute her son for 70,000 baht.

Wichit remains at large, reported Sanook.

Apaporn has been charged with hiring someone to commit murder on her behalf.

Thaivisa notes that Nakorn Sri Thammarat is known for its high murder rate and prevalence of guns and other weapons and violent crime.

She must have been ripped off, because according to TVF members in the know as i read many times, it cost only 5k to get someone murdered.

no comment!

If the story is as she has told it, she should be found guilty but released due to extenuating circumstances. No person has the right (I,m talking about the son) to mess up other peoples lives !

That`s only during certain times of the year when Thai contract killers are running a promotion.

B70,000 doesn't buy much  In Monaco, certainly not 'the rest of his days', but maybe the rest of his week?

You are joking. 70, 000 Baht is what an expat pensioner needs have for I month in Thailand.

In Monaco after paying his airfare he could probably stay for 2/3 days,

You also need to be as well-connected and knowledgeable as those lucky TVF members.
