A new form of driving license will be introduced to prevent fraud.

PHUKET: -- A normal paper made driving license will soon be changed into a plastic form to prevent any illegal operations of gangs who claim that they can issue licenses without a test. Suraphol Tanrungruengthawee, chief of Phuket Land Transport Office explained that the new approach will be introduced in Bangkok by the end of this month while the regional offices have to await a budget as the plastic licenses cost about 100 baht each to make. This is optional for the license holders he said.

The Phuket office is also holding an attractive registration number plate auction in March with 40% of proceeds going towards road safety campaigns.
