Just another manic Monday as local official falls asleep at the lights!

Police were called after a local official on his way to work fell asleep at a red light in Chonburi causing a massive traffic jam.

It was 7am.

Banging on the windows it took all of thirty minutes to wake the man who complained that he had been working late the night before and was tired.

Police gave him some water which he drank and splashed on his face before he drove off to work again in his white Honda.

Traffic cop Naret Sangka told Sanook that it was confusing because the day before was a Sunday; what was an official doing at work?

"I am not sure that he was all there," said Naret.

And yet they let him drive ... endangering all

Another 200 baht well spent.  If it took 30 minutes to wake him, he was paralytic p*ssed.

" before he drove off to work ", where he promptly fell asleep.

Awake or asleep, does not make much difference.

He could not wait to be at work to continue sleeping ?

Well the water woke him up. His eyes were open when he drove off....

The same could be said of the cops operating what should be fully-computerised lights. I'll swear they fall asleep between shifts - those of pressing the buttons.

Driverless cars are on their way , just say the location and the car will get you there. Sleep and drink as much as you want .  Can't wait.

You've got me puzzled. Who paid 200 Baht to whom and for what?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Look at the picture , typical Thais . Always touching your car even when they don't have to like here.

Not only was he acting like he wasn't all there, he was so tired he was a danger to others. Might be connected, don't you think? Obviously the police didn't.

A foreigner with a gardening implement might have woken him up a bit sharpish.

200 baht is the standard price you pay a cop to allow you to go on your way without charge.
