Bought 1 item from lazada (filled by a 3rd party seller), but got two. Now what?

I'm not sure if this is in the correct forum, but if not, moderators, could you point me in the right direction, thanks.

I ordered a single item from lazada, filled by a 3rd party shop in Thailand.

The courier delivered two identical packages at the same time, both addressed to me,

both containing the item i ordered, so i now have two of them.

Obviously an error at the 3rd party seller. The value of the item was a little over 1000 thb.

In my country in europe, that'd be the end of the story and i could just keep both items.

Is it the same here, or do i have a responsibility to report the error to the 3rd party seller or lazada? If the seller

does contact me, do i have a responsibility to send back or pay for the second item i received?

I would check if I paid with a credit card as if they trace it down, you could be billed twice....

Another option would be to alert the press,  make a big fuss as the Thai's do,  give the item back in person and make sure you make the headlines with your picture all over under the giant title :  "Quality farang expat returns item sent by mistake"......:clap2:

I paid cash on delivery, so them billing it twice won't be an issue.

I like your second idea, but it sounds like "a whole to do"..

The right thing to do is call Lazada & tell them what happened. You can print a return label so you can send it back via Thai Post, for free.

If they can't figure it out, that is now their problem. You did the right thing.

Call it Karma or attribute it to the deity of your choice...good things happen when you make the effort to do the right thing....even if it's only a smile, or a hug.

I don't think I'd do anything for an item of that low value. Not about greed. About laziness. You're supposed to bother with this when it wasn't your mistake? Does that make me a bad person?

If it was 100,000 baht item of jewelry it would be different. In that case, I would be afraid of the consequences of not reporting it. But still, that would be even a bigger bother because you'd have to worry about the item getting lost after reporting it.

Right is right...wrong is wrong. Making a phone call to do the right thing is easy. The laziness comes in doing nothing.

Justify stealing however you like.

When you get something you didn't pay for, somebody paid for something they didn't get.

Sounds like you need to call customer service. I've had issues with them before (they actually speak English if you press the correct number on your phone) and they worked out my issue to my satisfaction.

It took longer that it would have in farangland, but TIT.

So you paid the 2 items?

If this, go in your Lazada account, open the order and start a return.
I choose all the time 7eleven for returning. Print the form out, bring the item to 7eleven and wait. In normal it need 2-3 weeks that your money is returned to your bank account.

Well, maybe 1000 baht loss could be spare change for you or the shop, there was an employee in there who made a mistake, and for that employee this could be significant. It doesn't make you a bad person, but it certainly doesn't make you show much integrity. Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

In same situation I would contact Lazada and let them know what has happened, either by phone or email or chat. They'd probably generate the sticker for me to send it back to them at the nearest 7 eleven. It's really not that much of a hassle to do the right thing.

Well said.

Not your problem. Give them 2 weeks to pick it up or keep it!  Lazada's Customer Service is terrible, so don't contact them.

That would be an important distinction to me. If they were actually willing to come to my place and pick it up, that would be cool. But to expect a customer to go our of their way, even to mail it back, seems over the top for a small item. Another reason I wouldn't call them. Then it's on you. If they're not willing to pick it up, then it's your hot potato, and I wouldn't be surprised if they debit your account on that on the next order, even for COD customers.

There can be a fine line between always doing the "right thing" and being an insufferable goody two shoes ...

Just give it to a Thai person who doesn't earn that much money. Do you really want to deal with Thai customers services. Lucky you paid cash on deverly or they might try to charge you. Slightly of topic but it reminds me of a time I stayed in a bungalow in Ko Samui. They had this system where you write everything down in a book. I ordered a pineapple Juice for 30THB got a massive juice thought wow that is great Value. The next day when I went to my book they have crossed out 30THB and put 70THB. When I asked why they said because we gave you more pineapple juice by mistake. I checked out the next day it was a bit shit there and that was it for me. I just didn't give them a tip and told them why. Because of that if you would have paid by card I would suppect they would charge you twice. I think the way it works here in Thailand staff are charged for there mistakes in most places. So actually thinking about it now as I am writing about it you might want to consider sending it back as the person who earns 300THB a day might be charged.
