A man working in an orchard in Ayuthaya heard the unusual, muffled cries of a dog and wondered where they were coming from.

So he went to investigate with another local. What they found was an almost completely submerged pick-up.

They smashed a window and saved a seven year old dog. They couldn't see or be sure if there was anyone in the car as most of it was under water so they called police.

Bang Ban, Ayuthaya police found 54 year old Darunee Seubsaikert dead in the driver's seat. The windows on both sides of the Toyota "Tiger" were down about 20 centimeters, reported Tnews.

Prayoon Phosri, 46, who had been working nearby said he heard the cries of the dog and went to investigate with Preecha Ploenchit, 48, who was fishing.

They were shocked to see the tail end of a pick-up virtually submerged and off the road in a paddy that was under almost 2 meters of water from flooding.

They managed to use a tool to bash in the back window and free the dog.

The victim's husband Suang Thianthong said that his wife had left home at 7am yesterday to drive 4 kilometers to get gas. She had taken their seven year old dog Frot with her.

Police believed that Daurnee could not see the road that was under about 30 centimeters of water and drove off into a paddy at a bend. She had probably tried to escape via the windows but the electrics had shorted before she could get them down enough.

The dog managed to survive in an air pocket at the rear of the passenger compartment but the driver had drowned.

So sad, to hear this though driving on a submerged road is not a real smart thing as demonstrated here. This is real sad for the family.

RIP.

RIP

Very sad, but i'm just wondering if a lifehammer will work if the window is submerged??

Whatever possessed her to drive into the middle of what appears to be a Lake

The only real explanation is the obvious one, but I have decided not to go there this time
