Thai industrial sentiment enjoys second consecutive improvement in September

BANGKOK, 19th October 2017 (NNT) - Thailand’s industrial sentiment improved for the second consecutive month in September.

The Federation of Thai Industries announced on Wednesday that the monthly survey of the country’s industrial operators found the sentiment index at 86.7 in September, up from 85.0 in August.

The index rise in September has been attributed to higher overseas purchase orders intended for delivery in the last quarter of this year and a recovery in domestic consumption as proven by higher local sales.

The FTI also said that the future sentiment index, which gauges confidence over the next three months, was at 102.9 in September, compared with 101.9 in August, after industrial operators started to feel that the local economy’s growth momentum was continuing although some remained worried about purchasing power of the agricultural sector and foreign exchange volatility.

Meanwhile, the FTI’s Auto Club, reported that Thailand’s vehicle production totaled 190,272 units in September, up 9.94 percent on the same time last year, while vehicle exports grew 7.19 percent year-on-year to more than 120,000 units — the highest level in 24 months.
