Dear All,

I need to move my Tabian Bahn due to a house sale & while I know how to do this, I have questions relating to the White Book & Red Alien Book.

Do I need to do anything white the White & Red books after moving T.B's or just wait until the next time I need to visit Immigration and Police?

Many thanks.

In theory you are supposed to inform the police of an address change even if it is within the same police precinct and have that recorded in the red book.

In practice you would probably get away with not reporting the move until you need a replacement blue/white book because you need to present your original Tabien Baan for that and all the addresses do need to match.

May I boldly ask you guys... I know what a yellow book is and i know what a blue book (tabien Baan´s)... But what is a white book and what is a red book? never heard on such colours on books...

They are the books issued for PR holders. The original is blue and replacement one is white that is issued by immigration. The red one is issued by the police.

Blue book refers to the PR's originally issued Certificate of Residence. White book is the replacement Certificate of Residence. Both issued by the Immigration Department. I once asked why they change colour. The officer said she didn't know.

Red book refers the the Alien Certificate issued by the police.

So this is what happened.

Went to the police station where I first registered, only to find my file was moved to another police station closer to my (now old) home. Found my file & it took a few days for them to prepare the paper work & have the boss sign me out.

To speed things up I took the paperwork myself to my new police station & was given the name of the person in charge of registering aliens. Got signed in straight away & so all done.

Fairly painless in the end, just takes time.
