Thats great bambinA,

I have never heard of ชะนีทั้งหลาย used as slang like that...

Like Bambi said, ชะนี chá-nii is what primarily transgender people use to refer to straight women they do not like - since the Thai word ผัว 'phua' for husband sounds similar to the call female gibbons make when they fight for a male gibbon's attention.

* ผัว phua is vernacular, whereas สามี saamiii is the more polite word for husband.

Phua/Mia is also used to describe the orientation of plugs/sockets. Just a little technical input here. :D

Actually the technical terms for plugs/sockets are ตัวผู้/ตัวเมีย.

For calling girl(s) as ชะนี (gibbon), I think it's used by gay guys not real guy. And girls will not call other girls as gibbon either. So, make sure that you don't want to look like a gay by calling girl as gibbon. :o

I afraid not .. many girls in Chula call bitchy spp. as "chanee"

anyway ...Dont cally any girl as chanee is the better way ..

I was joke with the OP coz i thoght he did not ask for the serious question

A more literal translation for me (as I am not up with the slang) wish I was.

เร็วๆเข้า ทุกคนรีบแต่งตัวแล้วออกไปซะ เมียมาแล้ว

reow reow kao tuk kon reab dang duuwa laew ook bai sa mia mar laew.

All I can say is that I must leave a very sheltered life compared to you helicoptor.

It sounds like you are having fun. :o

Can anyone translate this as i am now getting paranoid, as when ever my GF's friend is around she says what sounds like 'kap kup falang'.

I know what falang means. Whats annoying is i'm trying to learn but i think she doesn't want me too.

คับแคบ

แคบฯ

Khup Khaep or Khaep Khaep

narrow-minded ; small-minded ; unhelpful ; ungenerous

แคบ (Khaep) Narrow

ใจแคบ (Jai Khaep) Narrow -minded

I wouldn't like to think that this is what she is saying, but any way I would think that the sentence structure would be wrong.

It would be Farang Khaep Khaep not Khaep Khaep Farang!

ความคับแคบ kwaam káp kâep selfishness ; stinginess ; niggardliness

I know what falang means. Whats annoying is i'm trying to learn but i think she doesn't want me too.

i was thinking maybe it's คบกับ (khop gap) farang. khop means to become friends with someone, to hang out with someone, or even to start going out with (or to be seeing) someone. i guess you'd know from the context, could she be saying 'i've been going out with this farang for ... months' or 'ever since i started going out with this farang blah blah blah...'?

I think that Aanon may well have it. Many times in the village, the ladies have told me that they would like to meet a farang and were always asking me to fix them up with a friend.

My earlier post

คับแคบ

แคบฯ

Khup Khaep or Khaep Khaep

narrow-minded ; small-minded ; unhelpful ; ungenerous

แคบ (Khaep) Narrow

ใจแคบ (Jai Khaep) Narrow -minded

just goes to show how easy it is possible to jump to a wrong conclusion.

A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing at times.
