webfact
No dogs allowed in public parks, BMA insists By The Nation Pet dogs will not be allowed entry to public parks of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, deputy governor Chakkaphan Piewngrm said on Monday. Many Bangkok residents have called on the BMA to allow them to walk their dogs in public parks, he said. The animals cannot be allowed because the parks are also used by the elderly, children and people who do not love dogs. The deputy governor said dog owners must use parks specifically designated for their pets. So far, the BMA has one dog park and will open more soon, he added. The first BMA dog park, Watcharapirom Park in Bang Khen, draws about 300 to 500 visitors on weekdays and about 1,000 to 1,500 on weekends. Chakkaphan said the BMA is planning for dog parks in all corners of the capital. One of them, the Phetkasem 69 Park in Bang Kae district will be completed and opened next month. futsukayoi
I definitely prefer dogs to children so can't we ban kids. They are far noisier and in general worse behaved. Allowing dogs controlled by their owners in parks may also help educate Thai's and gradually overcome the awful way many treat dogs.

connda
Good lord, dogs are allow free roam of everywhere else in Thailand unimpeded. Unlike the West where dogs are not allowed free rein, dogs parks are a great idea. Here in Thailand where dogs can roam anywhere they darn well please, people parks without dogs are a great idea. Who cares, as long as they don't soil public parks where children play and adults relax? "Many countries have dog parks. Where is Thailand's ?" Read the article again, that information is in it. irwinfc
owners can still walk their dogs around temples. i do hate irresponsible dog owners (and there's no shortage of the lot). i had a neighbor who walks his dog right beside our lot for its toilet break - twice a day!
