A 24 hour turnaround is nothing short of amazing but it now seems to be the norm for strong applications.

The next step for the Aussie Embassy will be to issue Spouse Visas before an application has been received. :o

What was the name, or initials of your case officer? And how long after you submitted the application was the interview conducted? Remember, most of the time they will have made up their mind at the interview if it is required.

My wifes spouse visa was issued the afternoon after we submitted the application and there was no interview conducted.

I have a feeling its all up to how the case officer feels about the genuiness of the relationship, as our case officer saw us together when we submitted the application and gave us very positive signs that made us to beleieve that our application will be approved in less than the 3 months stated in the letter, and it was, 24 hours as well!

Firstly Mr Burns, thanks (entry date)

It says

The Visa requires that you first enter Australia before 18/10/2007

The initials of the case officer was M.V.

She subitted the visa at the Embassy at the same time as the interview

She attended without me being there

Thanks for that, looks like you had a different case officer.

I guess this means that everyone there has pulled their finger out and started processing applications, especially genuine ones more quickly.

Sorry should have asked for the lodgement date as well....Know you rang them 20/12/06 and asked for an interview which was the 10th this month...

Just trying to work out how they work out entry dates for future reference.

Thanks mate

Mr Burns

The lodgement date was dated the 11/01/07

Visa grant notification was dated 12/01/07

entry date 18/10/07

So you lodged the application after the interview and they gave you an interview without an application being lodged....

I would find this to be most unusual....

I must be missing something somewhere

Mr.Burns

Our entry date was 12 months from the date of the police check (which was done before the medical check)

Both of these checks are only vaild for 12 months , so it make sense that the entry date would be the date the elder of the two doccuments expires.

My advice, if you want a long entry date, do the police and medical check as late as possible, we did our only two weeks before the submission and the visa was approved in one day, so really we have just over 11 months and 1 week to enter Oz by. Hopefully the application will be approved quickly, but the longer it takes, the less time you will have to enter as the will most likely go by the dates on these checks.

Gburns re missing something.

"So you lodged the application after the interview and they gave you an interview without an application being lodged"

No She Handed in the application at the interview on 10/01/07

And the letter from the Embassy Headed Visa Grant Notification reads

lodgement date was quoted as the 11/01/07

Visa grant notification was dated 12/01/07

entry date must be before 18/10/07

I dont see anything unusual here Mr Burns

And Aussiestyle

I have just checked the date of her medical and it was 18/10/2006 exactly 1 year before as written on the letter

"The Visa requires that you first enter Australia before 18/10/2007

so its the date of this medical that governs the enter before date

I take it you did your medical check before the police check? Usually the date will be the date you undertook the first of these two checks. We did our police check first, so our police check will expire first, so our entry date was the date on the police check. Maybe you did your medical check before you police check? That would explian why they used the date of your medical.

It seems that like mentioned before, they will make the entry date 1 year from the date of either the police or medical check, what ever was done first.

Correct Aussiestyle

She did have the meds done first and so this has cleared up any questions in the future on how they get the entry date on your visa

Medical or Police check 1 year from the oldest check

Thanks guys...this info is exactly what myself and I am sure many other guys were looking for...

So now we know the entry date is from the first obtained documentation. And they will grant interviews and accept lodgement at the interview...This would show that the interview is the most important aspect of the procedure if the medical and police checks have been completed.

This is a long way from the usual lodge the application and checks, then wait for an interview date and then wait for the grant or refusal.

Brilliant guys.....I am sure that many are thanking you as they read this.

may put the VFS out of business though.... :o

This is my advice for a hassle free experience. (Aus Spouse Visa in BKK)

1- Finish your application and gather lots of evidence of relationship (make sure it is complete and well presented)

2- After your application is finished, go to the police HQ and apply for the police check (this will take two weeks to be returned)

3- Forget about the VFS, call the Embassy and book an appointment for a date in three weeks to lodge the application (call them by phone as soon as you have requested your police check which you will get back in 14 days, about a week before your trip to the embassy)

4- The next day, go to a hospital and get your medical (this will be sent to the embassy and does not take long)

5- Now, just wait another week or so, collect your police check and then afew days later it should be time to visit the Embassy. Go over everything to make improvements.

If your case officer is very convinced, you may not even need an interview, this will be a very good sign and you should expect approval in afew days. Then when your visa is approved, because your medical and police check was done only afew weeks ago, your entry date should be good for at least another 11 months.

Cheers................

GOOD ADVICE FROM AUSSIESTYLE

Aussiestyle's Advice is very similar to what we did

No need for the VFS, get the interview the same time as handing over the application.

And as he advised

1- Finish your application and gather lots of evidence of relationship (make sure it is complete and well presented)"

I wish she had stayed in Bangkok 1 more day though, then she wouldnt have had to make the trip back again tomorrow to get the visa put in her passport.

I am planning to return in March to carry the luggage while she carries the baby back to OZ

You guys have given us a great insight into it tho....it maybe better for some guys to do it the old way...but by and large at least we know the options...Thanks for sharing it with us.
