PHUKET: The Nigerian man suspected of breaking into 52-year-old Russian woman Elena Kharenko’s home and shooting her in a bungled burglary attempt in Rawai continues to deny charges against him even after the closure of the investigation, Lt Chanat Hongsitthichaikul of the Chalong Police confirmed today (Nov 18).

James Chukwunweike Chijioke, 27 and his partner Ms Sasipha Nakhonthaisong, are both being prosecuted for theft charges, while Chijioke also has an additional charge of attempted murder.

“He continues to deny all the charges,” said Lt Chanat.

It's a fairly strong case. His gf had the lady's notebook, their car was video taped outside the house and the victim made a positive ID.

Even though he would get a better outcome by admitting the crime, It's in a Nigerian's makeup to continue denying all wrongdoing. I speak from experience.

How dare he deny the charges. The RTP have decided he is guilty. Case closed.

"On Sept 1, Ms Kharenko identified Chijioke as the man involved in the incident."

The fact that the victim of the shooting identified him too could be more convincing maybe :saai:

Was the gun found, was he tested for powder residue ?

I just read an article of an American dark skinned man, I use that because I don't know if I can refer to them as being a particular colour, he was convicted of armed robbery and rape with the victim identifying him, 49 years later he was acquitted, the police knowing at the time of another male of similar appearance who did other armed robberies ans rapes around the same time, although chose to charge this gentleman. The other guy was eventually caught and died in prison in 2008, but because the victim recognised this man out of a line up, open and shut case.

I be wanting the gun and power residue tests just to say, yep, was 110% him, because we know what happens in Thailand, or do we ?

As funny as always. Do you actually read the stories, or are you just programmed to speak negative about all kinds of authorities?
Maybe they have been bad to you before.

I do read the stories and regretably I find very little to be positive about. Just a realist I suppose.

Arrgg,  I also be wanting such things, but alas, the rozers be playing their cards close to their chest, and all must wait for the black powder test to tell if tales are tall or true!
