Hi all, really messed up, my 60 day 1 entry visa ran out on Friday and like a plonker I thought it was Monday so I cannot extend it now, plus I am overstaying, anyone tell me firstly as I have technically done the island crossings twice in 2017 does that mean I cannot do another land crossing this year? I saw some signs however did not know if this is real or still in place, also driving from Chiang Mai where is the quickest place to drive too? I guess if the rule is in place I’ll have to fly? Thanks in advance [emoji120]

You could do the 30 day extension today at immigration after paying a 1500 bath fine for a 3 day overstay. Not sure why you think you cannot do it.

If you have already gotten two 30 day visa exempt entries this year at a land border crossing you cannot do another one.

From Chiang Mai the nearest crossing is Mae Sai in Chiang Rai province.

Or Chiang Khong, also in Chiang Rai province, which is not much further away.

Can I still pay for the 30 day extension even though my 60 day visa ran out on the 17th? I will go now if so and pay the fine plus the 1900 extension but as I have already overstayed I cannot do that right? Thanks

Yes you can. There is no rule that states you cannot do the extension if you are on a overstay.

Thanks joe, did pm you on this, so bassicly you can go to the government office even if your on an overstay and pay the 1900 extension plus 500 per day fee in Chiang Mai? So even if you over stayed say 10 days (not that I have) I’d pay the 5000 plus 1900? Just for example? Thanks again

Yes can go to immigration and apply for the extension.

It would not suggest trying to do it with a 10 day overstay but I have heard of one being done with a 2 week overstay.

Bear in mind that the start date will be when your other one expired.
