Hi,

Just wondering what documents are needed for an address verification done at the Swiss embassy for the purposes of renewing a document at the Land Transport Department.

It's easy for Aussies and Americans - just show up, write your address on a form provided there, get a stamp and pay a fee.

I have heard different things for Swiss, but doing a search here didn't come up with anything. There is nothing specific mentioned on their website either other than the fee they charge, which is 1400 Baht. Is that amount still accurate?

Do you need to make an appointment?

Is just having your passport with you enough, then filling out a form, getting a stamp and paying the fee? Or do they need something else?

Advisable you register with Embassy as a Swiss, Residing in Thailand. You will need to present:
- "Abmeldebescheinigung", indicating that your are no more residing in Switzerland.(Only issued if all Taxes have been paid in Switzerland).
- "Yellow Tabien Baan", or
- any long term rental contract, clearly indicating address in Thailand, or
- paperwork, identifying you as the owner of a condo or similar.

I am afraid, that the days when an address like "At Lulu's place, behind the 7/11 in Nakhon Nowhere" was enough are long gone.

As you need this paperwork on behalf of the Land Transport Department, I am sure you are familiar with "work-permit-regulations" in Thailand, unless it's only needed to aquire a Thai-Drivers License.
Cheers.
