I'm going to Thailand for a 3,5 month holiday. I'm looking at either getting a dual entry Visa from home or do extensions at the immigration offices.

Is it possible to do the following?

  1. Arrive Dec 13
  2. Extend 1 month beginning of Jan at Jomtien Immigration Office
  3. Trip to Vietnam end of Jan coming back Feb 12
  4. Extend 1 month beginning of March at Hua Hin Immigration Office
  5. Leave Thailand March 29

Reason for not getting the Visa in advance is that it's more expensive as I live quite far from Thai embassy in Sweden. I might also go on a business trip in the end of Feb thus no need for a second extension.

There is no dual entry visas anymore.

There is now a METV, the multiple entry visa for six months instead.

All entries can be extended by 30 days.

You can apply by mail from the embassy in Stockholm.

Be aware that you can only do two border entries by land per calendar year, flight does not count.

Pm me if you like more info, I speak Swedish.

Your plan should work fine. The only possible issue might be checking in for flights. Your airline, when checking in without a visa, may be looking for an onward flight within 30 days. Most airlines will accept an onward flight less than 60 days out, and (assuming your flight to Vietnam was already booked) your late January flight should be acceptable when checking in from Sweden. If necessary, talk to the airline supervisor and stress that your are sure you will have no problem with Thai immigration. Offer to sign an indemnity form if they are still reluctant.

A single entry tourist visa from Stockholm would eliminate any possible issues with your airline.

Like Poorsucker says!! You can also use i.e. the company; ALLAVISUM.se  their webiste is;

https://www.allavisum.se/thailand

They charge some 800:- (SEK) for the job and you do not have to go anywhere in Sweden. So forget these trips out of Thailand in you plans. Many of friends have used their service and they are doing just fine...

As you are (and must be) leaving Thailand one time any way you cut it, there is no need for a visa for your plan to work.

You will be just fine. It is up to you if you want to do the extensions, or bring either a SETV or METV. Just remember that a SETV must here be combined with a visa exempt.

But be aware of the issue BritTim is pointing out without a visa. If you carry your plan with you and show them in case, you should be fine with any aircraft from Sweden.

What do u mean by this? An SETV can be extended at immigration for 30 days or followed by a visa exempt entry by land or air.

Of course, but his plans mean one entry with SETV, no first extension, but a trip to Vietnam within the 60 days, then a visa exempt with an extension. No need for any extensions on a METV, he gets a new 60 days visa stay instead. A slight difference in requirements of the two also.

I understand the 2 weeks trip to Vietnam is his plan.

Thanks for all the answers!

The Vietnam trip is as Thaibreaker says not for a Visa extension as this is a kitesurfing trip. I'll go for the extension and will bring my flight details for the Vietnam trip at Check in.
