You could get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage, Where you would be applying for it will determine what supporting documents you would need.

Your marriage certificate, copies of your wife house book and ID card are the normal requirements.

You should not have a problem getting visa.

Where do you plan on applying for the visa. Nearby locations want the house book and ID card copies signed by your wife.

A multiple entry tourist visa would be an option.

If you can meet the financial requirements an extension of stay based upon retirement would be an option since you are 50 years old.

Ubonjoe, in the Netherlands neither of these options fly anymore: one now has to be legally pensioned off (i.e. over 65 and receiving a pension) to get an O multiple, and for the multiple touristvisa you have to prove you are legally empleyed... Which leaves me, 61 years old, retired, financially more than secure, with NO options but a single non-immigrant-O.

Sorry, misread it. Extension of stay. Yes, of course. Sorry!

I think back to back single entry tourist visas would work.  Each is good for 60 days, then a 30 day extension.  So get one SETV then get the second SETV. Leave for 6 months then come back and dot it again.  I don't think back to back SETVs would pose any problems from what I have read.  Two in one year doesn't seem excessive to me, especially if one then returns home for the next 6 months.

If this is a "one-off" trip, then what gk10002000 suggested with Tourist Visas and extensions of them would work - though that means 2 trips to immigration for extensions (one per Tourist Visa) and 1 trip out of the country to get your 2nd Tourist Visa.

If you intend to return next year for another 6-mo visit, this is a better option, in my opinion:

  • Start with a single-entry Non-O to visit your wife with ID-card + House-Book + Marriage Cert.  You will get 90-days permitted-stay on entry.
  • Then, when in Thailand, during the last 30 days of that 90-day stay, apply for a 1-year extension-of-stay based on retirement at local immigration, using your bank-account to meet the financials.
  • Starting with the Non-O will save you a lot of headaches, compared to switching from a Tourist-type entry.  It doesn't matter that the Non-O was based on marriage - the retirement-visa is easier for immigration to process, so they will happily base your extension on retirement instead of marriage.
  • Be sure to get a re-entry permit to keep that 1-year permitted-stay alive when you leave, so it's still running when you return.

The only catch is, you should be here next year just before it runs out (30 days or so), so you can renew it for another year.
