Work Permit And Re-entry Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Currently I'm in Thailand with a non imm O visa with extension and a work permit which I obtained in December.

I need to renew them in July, because I applied before the new changes on Oct 1st last year I have the option of 400,000 in the bank as well as the 40,000 income option.

Now I've got that out the way my question is - I've been offered some work in the UK that would be lucrative enough for me to go over there for 6 months or so and work.

The work permit is for my own business here which I earn a small income out of.

Firstly if I get a re-entry permit is it valid for a specific amount of time eg under 6 months?

Secondly what will happen with my work permit if I'm not in Thailand for six months or so?

and lastly are immigration going to be happy with me renewing my one year extension if I've been out of the country for six months of it?

I hope all this makes sense.

Steve

A re-entry permit has the exact same validity as your extension of stay (which I take is July). Your work permit should have the same validity. No problem if you were going to be here. But if you are gone 6 months all will be history and you will not have the 400k option again.

Immigration is not likely to have any problem with you here or there if you are here for renewal.

January to July = 6 months. Will you have time to get back to Thailand and prepare your documents in time for renewal?
