You cannot get a METV at any nearby location.

The rules state that you must apply for it in your home country or country of legal residence. An exception to that rule is reports of people  being able to get one in Australia, United States and Canada.

What will my best option be for a longer stay in thailand

The first thing you could do is apply for a 30 day extension of your 30 day entry at a immigration office.

After that you could get single entry tourist visas from a nearby embassies and consulates. They allow a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days.

You could attend school to get a non-ed visa and extensions at at immigration.

If you have the funds you could join Thai Elite and get a 5 year PE visa that allows unlimited one year entries. See: https://www.thailandelite.com/#/

It is difficult to provide advice on your best course of action without knowing your situation. Are you a wealthy person of leisure who will never need to work again? Do you anticipate living in Thailand for many years? Do you anticipate marrying a Thai? Do you welcome the idea of spending time studying in Thailand (whether to learn Thai, or something else)? Whether from financial need, or to have something to do, would you want at some point to work in Thailand?

I got a thai misses here and i got a 6months on 6months off gig in Australia.. so im basically here just for leasure during my 6months off.. just wanted to find an easy solution to be able to stay here for the 6months without doing border runs every 30 days and then eventually not being able to get back in to Thailand becoz off to many stamps in the passport?

I thought there were reports you could get an METV in KL now?

If actually married to a Thai, you can very easily get a single entry Non O visa to visit her (giving a 90-day stay) followed by a 60-day extension of stay at an immigration office in Thailand. You can do this as often as you like with no objection by immigration or the embassy/consulate you get the visas from. That gives you a five months stay. To stay longer, you could do a border hop for a 30-day visa exempt entry (extendable by 60 days). Since you would only be doing one visa exempt entry a year, immigration, again, will not care.

Unless you are a Malaysian national or resident, this is highly unlikely.

The reports were made here, on Thaivisa - and currently according to the list of requirements for an METV from the KL Thai Embassy there is zero requirement to be a Malaysian national or resident although you do need to show a bank balance.

I have seen no reports of anybody getting one there. Only a discussion of their requirement appearing to indicate you could.

I think if anybody had gotten one we would of heard about it.

I think the snag would be that they will want to see the money in Malaysian bank.

Perhaps try. Then if denied get a single entry visa.

The embassy can identify from the applicant's passport whether they are Malaysian nationals/permanent residents. The checklist does not outline the restrictions of who can receive the visa, only what must be submitted to back up the application. There are plenty of sources that make clear, in principle, the need to apply in home country. The narrow exceptions for some nationalities in Australia, US and Canada do not imply the general rule is not be applied in most cases (and especially in nearby consulates).

Deleted  -  the Guy says Misses, automatically think he is married to her - if you had called her your GF, some of us would have given different advice based on that   -   Cheers
