PHUKET:-- Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong today unleashed an angry tirade at officials for the flood of problems that are plaguing Phuket, starting with the lifeguard crisis but also taking aim at the poor state of Phuket International Airport and the lack of proactive action to prevent flooding, especially in Patong.

Governor Norraphat unloaded at officials who were called to a meeting at the Governor’s House at 7:30am today (Dec 12).

Regarding the ongoing debacle over the failure of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (OrBorJor, or PPAO) to secure full-time lifeguards to patrols Phuket’s beaches during the dangerous southwest monsoon season.

I hope you are correct, but time will tell.

History should be our guide "Phuket Govenor transferred" or even more regrattably "Government Official falls from balcony/has car crash etc".

I hope I am wrong, but it appears there are too many people milking the cash cow that is Phuket.

Ouch !!...ouch!...an honest and efficient politician who wants to make things in general public interest !!!....rare and risky in many countries, including here in Thailand !!

The things he is advocating would not appear to affect the dark side of business.

Nice to see a governor getting a bit heated about such simple things that shouldn't even be crossing his plate.

I wonder how much of that 400 million baht budget that was allocated to fix Patong flooding is actually even left after two years?

I think this guy should last longer than many of his predecessors because, as stated above, he avoids the big, bad issues, but is very proactive in cosmetic and ceremonial matters.

Rather than clean up corruption he is more likely to open a flower show or start a bicycle race.
