December 13, 20178 yr I buy a reasonable quality mouse, usually around 1000b but seem to have an ongoing problem with the cursor sticking, not a lot, just enough to make your eyes go funny when you stop using it. I've tried different pads, it seems to work best with the pad covered with a sheet of paper. Moved the USB wifi plug, it's now in the back of the PC which is supposed to have the best USB connections. Most advice mentions reinstall driver, which is only pulling out the plug? I'm prepared to lay out some serious baht for a decent mouse/pad combination providing it's readily available.
December 13, 20178 yr Reinstalling the driver means going into Device Manager and uninstalling it there then rebooting and letting it reinstall automatically. But if you have special mouse software, that needs to be uninstalled as well. You might look at system performance and see if anything is hogging CPU and RAM. Take a look in the control panel at mouse options and mess around w/ those. If your PC isn't nearby, get a USB extension cable and move the mouse adapter closer to your mouse. Otherwise buy a wired mouse. The standard Logitech will be fine.
December 13, 20178 yr If you're not willing to revert to a wired mouse, try looking for one that works on 5GHz, rather than the overutilized and potentially congested 2.4GHz radio spectrum by competing WiFi, Bluetooth, wireless Video, and signal killing Microwave Ovens. Make sure your batteries are fresh. As JSixpack wrote, have the mouse dongle as close to the mouse as is feasibly possible.
December 16, 20178 yr Author I found a USB port that it works on, a friend recommends replacing all the ports, he says it's a fairly simple job.
