from bangkok about 3 to 4 hours, take the bus or taxi then jump the ferry.

- Rent a motorbike or tricycle and go exploring.

- Nice clean beaches to frolic on in the day time.

- Quite a few good beach resturants.

- Some pubs/bars and "discoes" too.

- Boat trips.

- Diving.

Hotels with fan from 500 THB and up, aircon from 1.200 THB and up.

Att: After you arrive there is a one time "national park" entrance fee of about 500 THB for falangs... :o

Criminy you've left it a bit late to be asking fundamental questions like these. It's a long time since I've been there but anyhow:-

Boats go from Ban Phae, which is a good bit further south than Rayong, to any of the resorts on the island. I always used to go to Vongdearn resort but there's many others besides. There are booking shops scattered around the side streets who'll do the boat tickets and preumably the resort as well (I used to just pitch up an trust to luck).

Boat trip is about 45 minutes but it can seem longer if it's choppy and you get one of the smaller boats.

Other than sunbathing, swimming, eating, drinking and social activities there's sod all else to do on the island. That was ten+ years ago so things might have changed. There used to be, despite it being a National park, jet skis, water scooters and banana boats but best we don't mention them as they are not flavour of the week right now.
