The Meteorological Department recorded the temperature last night, December 19. The Doi Inthanon National Park often gets cold during winter, and hundreds of locals and tourists flock to see the morning frost before it thaws. The vast majority of the horrific crowds that drive up at 4am from Park HQ to the viewpoint is composed of Thais. There are some chinese too, and perhaps a few farangs, but that is because of the sunrise, I don't think the chinese would care for zero temperatures. As many as 5,000 people went up there on Saturday to enjoy the chilly weather. So presumably -2o is a record.
