People have reported seeing ice sheets on the nearby rivers, and heavy frost in the area. From other news " ...used a digital thermometer to measure the temperature at ground level in front of the observatory". Instead, it should be measured at 2m height above the ground and protected from air flow. In fact, the same Observatory has an online weather station showing that the minimum air temperature in the last nights was several degrees above zero.
