There are two suspects in the murder of Nontiya Krowjatturat, a dental official at Tambon Salui Hospital in Chumphon’s Tha Sae district, and both have been arrested and detained in prison pending further legal proceedings, police said.

The two are Ronnachai Panchart, Nontiya’s groom-to-be, and Narumon Chueysombat, Mr Ronnachai’s girlfriend.  Both have been arrested under court warrants and detained in connection with the murder of Nontiya on Dec 18, five days before the planned wedding.

Nontiya, 25, found dead with gun shot wound to her chest at the hospital’s living quarters for staff. Mr Ronnachai was arrested afterward.

Let´s hope they rot in jail.

Police are still investigating the disappearance of the money intended to be the dowry for the marriage.”

A good point.  How many police resources will be devoted to this area of the investigation; how little will be the progress.

My point was more as to what motivated the man to murder his fiancée, rather than just not show up for the wedding.

The missing dowry indicates greed motivated him.

Just wait till the TV denizens more critical of Thai cultural mores latch onto the fact that , "Sinsodt can be hazardous to your health".

This report does not provide anything like the level of detail that reports in the Thai media have included.  In short, the murdered lady treated her fiance like hell for a long period of time.  He tried to end it but she wouldn't allow it (and obviously he didn't have the balls to just walk away).  She beat him and berated him, and even when to his place of work and beat and berated him, which has been included in comments from his workmates.  Even friends of the victim have come out to say that she treated him badly.  He borrowed 600,000 baht from the bank with three of his workmates guaranteeing the loan.  This money was for the dowry and wedding expenses.  He didn't want to get married, but at the same time he was preparing for it.  The victim knew he had a girlfriend and that she was the one he really loved, not the lady he was supposed to marry.  Eventually it all got too much and he ended it by putting a bullet in her at point blank range.  Plenty of lives ruined here.

Yeah, of course it was the victims fault.

They were not 'sent to prison' they were detained in custody pending formal indictment and trial.

Even the guilty are presumed innocent until proven otherwise....

Not apportioning blame, just pointing out that there is much more being reported in the Thai press than the English language press.

The post I quoted certainly gave every indication of blaming the victim.

And that is why I posted a reply saying that I was NOT apportioning blame, but simply relaying what has been reported in the Thai press.  Very interesting Facebook comments on this one and if you can read Thai.

I can read Thai.

I dont read facebook and even if I did I wouldn’t read one blaming the victim.

As for your intent in posting, I’ll take your word you were not victim blaming.

However, everything you reported others were saying was.

Well, the victim certainly contributed to her own downfall, and Thai retribution can be violent and deadly. Nevertheless, the man should be imprisoned for taking a life if he is found guilty by the court.

Follow the money.  First one to find it gets to keep it, usually.

My ex wife treated me badly but I didn't reach for a gun, I walked....

That will depend entirely who tea-bagged the money.

The money,  if on the hands of the shooter will buy a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Unless this Girl's Father was the head of the Mafia, I can't see how she had so much power over him. Considering they were not married or lived together and had no children together.

All he had to do was walk away. If he had balls to shoot her at point blank range, with a good chance of being caught and spending the rest of his life in prison, he surely had the balls to just walk away. I don't buy your story.

In the West that's mostly true!

In the East, I think, it is a little different. Innocent or guilty, proof means nothing.

".... have been arrested and detained in prison pending further legal proceedings, police said."

Validates the two tier justice system in the Kingdom - the RTP didn't do that for the Red Bull heir and many others! Money talks 'criminal' walks.

Until things are rugged under the carpet and the pair will sneak free again....
