Authorities held a training session for 89 young people accused of illegal racing and their parents on Wednesday as part of a programme to reform young delinquents.

Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakparn, who presided over the training, said the participants would also be sent to a seven-day training programme at a military camp.

“Statistics show people who have completed the training do not return to illegal racing again,” Surachet said.

He added that authorities had also arrested more than 70 organisers of illegal racing and closed more than 100 web pages associated with illegal racing events.

Surachet also advised parents to monitor their children and prevent them from engaging in illegal racing.

“If you fail to do so, you risk up to three months in jail and a maximum fine of Bt30,000,” he said.

He added that anyone who observed illegal racing could alert police via Hotline 191 at any time of day.

Ha, seems like this police major does not know how effective the army is, they only need a couple of days to kick the shit out of those kids and kill a few.

Seeing how they treat their own people, i guess they can get it done under an hour.

Maybe the other 6 days are needed to harvest the organs and cover all tracks.

much easier to let them know that anyone caught racing will have their bikes crushed on the spot, parents will then give a sh*t about what their kids are doing  and so will the kids, losing theirs/the families means of transport will be much more persuasive than slaps on the wrist they usually hand out

It still amazes me on a daily basis the ridiculous noise level of traffic that is deemed acceptable by Thai society! A workshop on ear protection would be a good idea! Good parenting doesn't seem to include teaching social acceptability and respect for others!

Just another facet of the Thai traffic problems that is not being addressed!

I became convinced long ago that the Thai people are either deaf, trying as hard as they can to get that way as fast as possible.

Where are they?

Take their cars. Stops' em  dead in their tracks. Then take them out to the Graduation ceremony to watch the cars being destroyed.

My theory is that knowing what nutcases their fellow country folks are they will live a longer life by keeping their mouths shut as the reaction if they complain is not that of 'normal" folks :shock1:

Grin & bear it, rather than reap the possible consequences when complaint is made!
