Skim milk powder

Featured Replies

Looking for this in size 500g+. In the major supermarkets I've only been able to find 50 different kinds expensive baby formula.

Just looking for straight skim milk powder. This sells for about $5 a kilo in Australia. Perhaps there are some smaller specialist shops that sell it.

My opinion is that all, or nearly all, skim milk powder is imported into T'land and subject to high import duties.  Thus very expensive.  And probably the dairy industry here frowns on such milk powder and exerts a big influence on the govt lawmakers.  I agree, very hard to find in T'land.

The Yok shops usually have fat free milk powder in large and small bags.

Is that YOK Intertrade out on the super hiway, near the Bangkok Hosp?  On the google map, only one shop listed in CM.

I hadn't thought of trying a baking supply store. There are quite a few in Chiang Mai.

There is also a smaller Yok over in the Chiang Puak area.

Hillkoff may also have some powder....

Yes, those are the two locations I know of for Yok. Never knew that Intertrade was part of the name. Learn something every day.

I buy it all the time at TOPS...

I don’t have the box here...message me if you like and I’ll get the name next time..

Its right next to the baby formula but has a slightly different box...

I found skim powder at Bakermart in Nong Hoi. Australian source. Very good price at 103B/kg. Full cream is also available but about double the price. Fantastic shop for anyone who's into cooking.

Good to have in the cupboard as an emergency or for cooking.

NZ have done a great job in capturing the dairy market in Asia.

Over 5 million milking cows in NZ at last count.Thailands dairy herds in comparsion are minimal.
