Junta’s popularity at lowest level since 2014 coup: survey

No surprise here. Whilst I applaud his takeover as a matter of no choice, his obsession with trains subs,

& huge infrastructure projects instead of fixing & maintaining the existing is not acceptable without an

election.. Corruption is still rife & he is not strong enough to tackle the police involvement

That other South East Asian countries are as or more corrupt than Thailand is not the point. Corruption is endemic here, and it is doing serious damage to many aspects of society and the economy. The point is that this regime largely justified it's existence by claiming to be a reaction to a popular demand to fight corruption. It is becoming evident that they have in fact entrenched it.

Corruption has been endemic and entrenched here for a long time. It permeates all levels of society and hierarchy. Previous governments, elected or not elected, have done nothing to change that. And many also ran "anti corruption" campaigns. Some even claimed there wasn't any corruption in their governments - 555!

The targeting of political opponents for corruption, whilst ignoring friends, and adopting the do as we say not as we do mentality is the norm for both elected and non elected governments.

This model isn't unique to Thailand but is common in Asia, Africa, and to some extent South America. Same in India and the Indian sub-continent. And India is the world's biggest democracy - something of which they're very proud. But which also proves that democracy, on it's own, won't defeat corruption, or even scratch the surface.

Until the justice system is massively reformed, and there doesn't seem any appetite for that at any level within society, then fighting corruption is just meaningless rhetoric.

Wait for tonight's Muppet Show, to set things straight!

This must be why a political outsider is recommended as a new leader. Of course the Thai people are not smart enough to elect a proper leader as indicated in an earlier article.
