CityNews – A Kuwaiti man threatened to commit suicide in public yesterday in Mae Rim after he broke free from a hospital vehicle taking him to the airport to sent him home.

Around noon on January 11, a 29 year old man from Kuwait was being transported from Fang Hospital to the Airport due to undisclosed mental health conditions. During the ride, he attacked ambulance staff before forcing the vehicle to stop where he then ran off. He reportedly stole a knife and hammer from a nearby construction store, and walked to the entrance of Ban Mae Sa School with the knife to his throat.

Disgusting to make a public spectacle of your little problems in front of school children. Have some consideration for others. And cover up that repugnant flab!

Empty threats as he didn't have the guts to slice himself in the end, but some school kids might feel traumatized. Deport and blacklist.

Poor mental health doesn't work like that. if he had the cognitive ability to rationalise that then he would realise it is ridiculous and not do it in the first place.

So if he was being taken to the airport to be deported Why wasn't he being conveyed by immigration officials

This could have been a "managed" deportation whereby he had the money to pay the overstay fine and ticket home and a deal had been worked out between his Embassy and Immigration that he would go quietly, paying his fine and being blacklisted at the airport.  This happens frequently as a means to avoid having someone transported to Bangkok and held in IDC, especially when they have medical issues that cannot be handled in IDC.  Obviously, these situations require the cooperation and consent of the deportee, which seemed to be lacking in this case.
