PM urged to step in over MP election bill amendment

By The Nation

Anti-corruption activist Srisuwan Janya on Monday filed a petition to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, asking him to exercise his power to suspend the National Legislative Assembly’s authority to pass the controversial MP election bill.

The NLA’s law-vetting committee has amended the bill to extend the enforcement of the bill to 90 days, which could result in the election, which is expected to happen late this year, being delayed until early next year.

The bill is pending its second and third readings in the NLA, and expected to be forwarded to the legislative body by the end of this week.

Srisuwan said Prayut must send a signal to the NLA to stop proceeding with the amendment, because it directly affects his credibility.

Prawit and Prayut are both now in the throws of credibility battles.  Both are perched on a bar of soap on a wet bathroom floor.

Will this election delay be the straw that broke the camel's back and bring the masses to the streets. I hope so.

a good expression of wrongful thinking; thinking thais have had firm opinions of his credibility for some time; unthinking thais ? well..., they likely won't grasp the issue

The continuing efforts to obviously and blatantly rig the election in favor of the "green", aka camo, party are both laughable, and dangerous.

But the junta is committed to a certain form of democrazy which will absolutely deny the masses from any sort of representation. It's a feature and not a bug

?.   I really doubt that “Masses on the street” will speed up any elections.... the opposite I would think, so I hope your wrong.

But..... Steven might hope your right, as this would justify the military staying in power even longer

Maybe not. Privy Council has warned the junta and his popularity has taken quite a tumble. If the masses take to the streets, someone will be utterly unhappy in his 1st year. He may be forced to give up his position and announced an election date to pacify the crowd. A civilian government leading to the election?

Hey... maybe.

after all, this is Thailand, and even after ten years, I’m continually amazed. (But have long since stopped with the breath holding)

Lie detector test should be a must.

Let's hope so. It's time that somebody will check on the little general's family and the corruptible arguments that come with it.

If he doesn't remember anything what his family does/did and he states that he isn't a business man, how can he be the self proclaimed PM?

" “I don’t know. I don’t remember,” Gen. Prayuth said on 1 November. “I am not a businessman. Please don’t ask me about this.”
