hello everyone

i did my last visa run for single entry 2+1 months tourist visa on 5 december. now around 5 march I'll go again vientiane but as I heard now they asking for financial proof which means 20.000 baht in your bank account or cash when you apply at thai consulate. is that true? I asked some people they said that's not true some people said yes they asking? I'm too confused. I heard after i did my last visa run on 5 december they change rules around 2 weeks later?

and last question. my visa finish on 5 feb monday and ı'll extend 1 month more until march. if I go on 5 feb is that okay? Or that's mean overstay?

thank you!

No the Embassy in Vientiane are not asking to see 20K in the bank.

You can go on the last day. It's not overstay until Feb 6th.

On the financial proof, Vientiane are not asking for it. I think some people may be confusing the changed requirements in Savannakhet or Penang with Vientiane.

Be careful with your dates. Your single entry tourist visa gives you a 60-day stay, not a two month stay. Also, the extension is a 30-day extension not one month. Especially when trying to wring every last day out of it, the distinction is important. If you arrived December 5, you should have received a permission to stay until 2 February (the first and last days are included in the 60 days). Check the entry stamp in your passport to see if you were given the correct stamp as it is your fault if immigration make a mistake and do not get it corrected. If you get an extension before 2 February, your new permission to stay will run until 4 March.

Thai Consulate in USA wanted bank statement showing $700 for tourist visa, single entry. Sent in application last week. Seems you won't know until you ask.

That is well known and is shown on their websites.

For Vientiane is is well know because so many people go there for visas. If there was a change we would know about shortly after it happened.

To get my METV in USA I had to give them a hard copy of my bank statement that showed enough funds.  I can't remember how much exactly but it was in the $thousands.

That was in los Angeles but I am sure it is required for all of USA consulates.

METV is vastly different from SETV. You can only apply in the country of residence and a proof of approx. 200K baht equivalent in the bank is mandatory.
