Plumbing parts for faucet

Featured Replies

Looking for a replacement valve stem for a shower faucet. Everywhere I have looked only has replacements for the whole faucet. Anyone know of places that would have just the stem?

Thanks

David

If it is a Cotto faucet, they used to have a parts place in and behind the SCG offices just before the first Macro as you head South on the frontage road.  If you identify the brand for sure you may get better advice.

Hate to say this, but I was under the impression that faucets are throw-away items here.  The most maintenance we do on ours is to clean out the filter screens.  In the U.S., we'd replace O-rings or valve stems on faucets periodically.  Here, it just seems cheaper to buy new faucets every year or so and pay the condo's handyman 100 baht to replace them.

That is a "Sweethome" faucet.

You need to buy the whole "set" in order to get the part you need.

However they aren't too expensive, I think around 300-400 Bt

The big hardware store on Sridonchai Rd has them.

@cmsally,

Thanks. Looks like I'll be doing just a bit more plumbing than I thought I would be. LOL At least replacing the faucet is a fairly easy job.

You are so right. Back in the US, a quick trip to Home Depot and it would be done. Personally, I like the adventure here of looking for things. Gets you out and about more.

Not sure if you’re only having problems just with the valve leaking. If the valve stem is pretty much intact (brass threads not stripped, etc.), can you remove/replace the rubber washer attached to the end of the valve? If so, the Weeraphan Shop, located about one block east of the train depot, has a wide assortment of washers, "O" rings and other hardware. To see store/details, click on the wrench icon you see in the middle of this map:  https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1f2M3V9dd6dwcdfj1iv1pqVEr-9E&hl=en&ll=18.7849839215517%2C99.01902177758666&z=21

Strip it down, clean it up and replace the shutoff washer and the valve stem sealing washer and it'll be good as new...

@CMsojourner
