U.S. charges Russians with 2016 U.S. election tampering to boost Trump

Thank goodness the CIA never gets involved in meddling in other countries' affairs, otherwise Mueller might have to consider going after them next.

You raise a good point. All this hype about interference, and let's be honest, that's a bit like saying it's OK when we do it but no one's allowed to do it to us! This suggests that the numerous and much vaunted American national security agencies, those that operate internally and externally, ain't the bees-knees they think they are. It also doesn't make the true things that were revealed false, or mean they can be conveniently swept under the carpet.

Suggesting that large swathes of the American electorate are easily swayed and influenced by such things, is an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their integrity. It smacks of excuses and of the political elite wanting to resist change and discredit anything that reflects badly on their ingrained institutions and ways,

Nearly 50% didn't vote so weren't influenced!

People are influenced by information.

So yes, these things will have an effect.

That's really irrelevant to this though. Intelligence communities are often going to be doing unscrupulous activities, I think we can all accept that even if we don't like it. We just accept that it happens. However, it's a different matter if one of the political parties (the one who currently controls the White House) was involved in that process. Because if that is the case then a person compromised by Russia is running the country. These guys are innocent until proven guilty, but the trail of cover up, the lack of sanctions, and whatever evidence has already leaked to the public is alarming...

If you use that logic, then Obama should also have been impeached. This all started sometime in 2014 during Obama's watch.  I'm not saying that I wanted Obama impeached. Just saying, whats good for the goose......................................gander.

Obama didn't take action while the FBI investigation was ongoing and still secret.  That is standard procedure.  He took action after the election when Russian meddling became public knowledge.    http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-obama-russia-sanctions-20161229-story.html.

Russians played both sides:

Thank you.

The campaign was to disrupt the elections, not for a specific candidate. Seems the authors are willing to overlook what Rosenstein said to push their biased anti Trump campaign.

Getting bad when even Reuters is apparently publishing partisan articles.

Previous presidents are not supposed to become involved in slagging off their successor. That Obama does, is not surprising to me.

Given it's been over a year, and there has been ZERO evidence that anyone on Trump's team colluded with the Russians to interfere with the elections, and Rosenstein specifically said NO AMERICAN was involved in the current indictments, it's looking really good for Trump. There was interference in the elections by the Russians but not by Trump, or his team.

I guess the resistance must be getting despondent, as we don't hear about it, or calls for impeachment much anymore.

In what way is taking action against Russian meddling in the 2016 "slagging off their successor"?

Did you forget the email to Don Jr promising compromising information on Hillary Clinton as part of the Russian government support for Trump?  The one to which Don Jr responded "I love it!"?    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/11/us/politics/trump-russia-email-clinton.html

The investigation is ongoing.  Wait for the results.

Edit:  Trump's refusal to take any actions to prevent future Russian interference is at best dereliction of duty, at worst complicity in the crime.

Let's get some details from the actual indictment, rather than from Fox "News":

6. Defendant ORGANIZATION had a strategic goal to sow discord in the US. political system, including the 2016 US. presidential election. Defendants posted derogatory information about a number of candidates, and by early to mid-2016, Defendants' operations included supporting the presidential campaign of then-candidate Donald J. Trump (Trump Campaign) and disparaging Hillary Clinton.

and lets go to 57 in the actual indictment ( I can't save the paragraph to post it here, but it's on the link in the quote ) where the same people organised 2 anti Trump rallies on November 12 2016.

Uh... Emails where Russians offer dirt to Don Jr and he responds that he loves it and forwards to Manafort and Kushner, who then take a meeting about it isn't evidence? This information conveniently being left off Kushner's security forms (along with other Russian information)... Donald Trump helping them to form the statement when they realized it was going to go public which basically downplayed the meeting saying it was a meeting about adoptions. Not revealing the other people in the meeting until it became public? PapaD's drunken conversations that Russia had incriminating evidence before it was public knowledge... Roger Stone's Guccifer exchanges. The mysterious connection between a Trump server and Deutsche Bank which has never been explained. That is a ton of evidence of collusion and that is just what is publicly known... And that's before you even get into money laundering or obstruction of justice. And the question on obstruction is why obstruct if you aren't hiding something?

So when are they going to declare the election "Null & Void"???

One of the goals of the foreign meddling was to cause chaos.  So that people would become frustrated or discouraged about their choice of candidates and become completely turned off from voting at all.  I often heard people saying that both candidates were equally bad.  Yes, people were influenced to vote one way or the other, or in some cases influenced to not vote at all.

If "they" are the US Congress, they'll do that as soon as they feel their jobs are at risk in the 2018 elections.

Proof that it's a lie, please.

Just change channels. If you watched something besides faux news you’d have all the proof you need.

I think Putin knew these indictments were coming at the beginning of February.

Russia warns citizens to rethink foreign travel because US 'hunting' for Russians to arrest around world (February 2, 2018)

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/russia-citizens-foreign-travel-us-hunt-arrest-list-russians-trump-putin-kremlin-world-a8190536.html

Russia says U.S. 'hunting' for Russians to arrest around the world

The Foreign Ministry statement warns Russian citizens that when abroad they face a serious threat of arrest by other countries at Washington's request, after which they could be extradited to the United States.

https://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/world/russia-says-us-hunting-for-russians-to-arrest-around-the-world/ar-BBIBoA2

I suspect Mueller tried to catch Russians outside of Russia with sealed indictments first before making a public announcement. Time will tell if he had any success.

On another thought, might the accused Russians be viewed as "enemy combatants?" The US Quantanamo Bay facility might serve as a "processing center" for any apprehended suspects before entry into the US to stand trial.

Pile of anti-Russian nonsense...smoke and mirrors.

If anybody fixed the election it was the FBI with their bogus Hilary investigation mere days before the election.

Runner up, would be the $200m given to Facebook by Trump in exchange for the private data of US citizens so they could be manipulated by his campaign.

As I thought. You have no proof and are just waffling anti Trump stuff for the sake of being anti Trump.

"They" can't negate a legitimate election. The only thing they could do would be impeach Trump, and if convicted Pence would be installed.

Finally deep state exposed by silly jokes.:cheesy::cheesy:

Rosenstein has gone on record as saying NO AMERICAN took part knowingly as part of a "collusion".

It is the FBI's job to take actions "to prevent future Russian interference" and the person that would order that would be Rosenstein, as Sessions has recused himself on matter Russian. Trump can't interfere with FBI operations.

Why not provide a source for Rosenstein's on the record claim so it can be considered in context?

The FBI can't go to Russia and arrest trolls and their masters.  You know that, don't you?

Any action taken against Russia will have to be political.  Clearly Trump has no desire to take such action, he seems quite content with Russia meddling in US elections.  I wonder why.

Wow, case closed then!

That's not what he said.  He said this particular indictment names no Americans as participants or conspirators.  There could easily still be some unnamed American(s) out there, who just have not been part of any unsealed indictment yet.

Your statement won't be true until Mueller finishes his entire investigation.

It is now going to be quite a bit harder for the deflector in chief to push his story about the so called Russian hoax. He has already changed his script, and has all of a sudden started referring to the Russians as bad actors, instead of very close friends, and has essentially admitted what he knew all along. He literally makes up his stories daily. That is who he is. Truth means nothing to this half man.

Don J.T. - lying daily, to save his face. Moving America backwards, and not even coming close, to making America great again. Repopulating the swamp, with his own creatures from the black lagoon. Bankrupting companies at will, for the purpose of self enrichment. And getting busy with underage girls, hookers and porn stars along the way, without repercussions. Above the law Don. Bringing elegance to the presidency.
