(Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump blasted media mogul Oprah Winfrey on Twitter on Sunday night over a segment on CBS's 60 Minutes programme and again said he hoped she would face him as an opponent in the 2020 presidential race.

Actress and television host Winfrey, now a contributor to the CBS programme, led a panel of 14 Republican, Democrat and Independent voters from Grand Rapids, Michigan in a wide ranging discussion about Trump's first year in office.

Trump tweeted: "Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes. The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!"

Winfrey has told various media outlets, including Entertainment Weekly, that she is not running for president, but has considered it, after there was much recent media speculation.

The panelists ranged from voters who said "I love him more and more every day," to others questioning Trump's stability, saying, "All he does is bully people."

Winfrey made no declarative statements for or against the president in the programme. But she did ask questions ranging from whether the country is better off economically to whether respect for the country is eroding around the world.

Trump seems to be at his absolute worst when attacking women. His history of ugly personal attacks is well-documented: Carly Fiorina, Meryl Streep, Megyan Kelly, Rosie O'Donnell, Mika Brzezinski, Heidi Cruz, Alicia Machado, Elizabeth Warren, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I did not see the segment but by tRumps reaction it did not put him in a good light. Good for Oprah.

Trump is always hard at work blasting black people who aspire to high offices. He spent eight years trying to gig Obama, now he's turning his guns toward Oprah. America is becoming more hostile towards black people with each passing year.

After a whole year and Nixon you have figured that out have you!

Don wants to be careful not to incite her to run against him!

I am willing to buy that Oprah's a sensible, intelligent and well-meaning person.  But, president of the USA?  This sounds like part of the plot to that old movie Network, where the news division is taken over by an entertainment manager leading to farcical events.

I think my point was better stated by the British comic who plays the character Jonathan Pie, a supposed TV news reporter.  Warning: he does use the "F word" and one other vulgar term to better express his rant (if such concerns you):

I would say that America is becoming increasingly hostile to itself in recent years. The polarization and continual criticisms is classic Marxism. United they stood! But that what was before showing national pride made you a fascist.

I'm not sure what your sentence means, but yes I remember nixon, carter, ford, kennedy, carter and johnson.  nixon was a not nice man,  but he didn t grab em by the pu$$y and he wasn t an overt racist.

carter was inept , ford was accident prone, johnson left the bathroom door open when he shat.

trump is in  a different league. He is a dangerous, narcissistic buffoon.

I thought that about Trump, particularly at the times he was in campaign debates and made such a colossal ass of himself.  I underestimated the number of American voters who would be so easily duped by a vile snake-oil salesman - many of whom enjoy watching the denigration of the USA.   I don't much care to see Oprah as prez, but even the janitor at a dog pound would do a better job than the dangerous dufus we're stuck with now.

Just one of the dozens of ways Trump is harming the US, here's an interview with a diplomat who quit the State Dept in protest against Trump.  She's just one of hundreds of (once-) career diplomats who have quit in protest.

No one was duped by Trump, The Dem's ran as their candidate one of the most vile characters ever to creep out of the swamp. As much as people had their reservations about Trump, it was less scary than their knowledge of Hilary. And then Hilary called Americans deplorable, virtually handing Trump the keys to the White house.

Would certainly rather her, a billionaire who earned every cent through her own hard work and who gives back to the world community  be president,  rather than the selfish clown occupying the White House currently.

That's what most of us are still saying about the man-baby in charge!

You may not like Hillary but at least she is competent she would have done a good job much better than the blame storming draft dodging embarrassment Buffon we have now

As an American, I agree with you ... but I would change the order ... he is a baby-man. In other words he is a baby in a mans body throwing tantrums and screening all the time.

Probably move the Oval office into a studio...

Trump didn't win the election.

Hillary lost it.

She was that awful.

Trump is a showman and a good one. The US dollar has dropped about 5฿ over the last year, so somebody on a $3000 pension has lost ฿15,000 per month but is he good enough to keep expats and people in the US rust belt still supporting him?

Why do es America need a celebrity or tv star to be president?   Why not someone qualified for the job instead of someone from tabloid tv?

Because it has become a tabloid society ?

She spoke the truth. The voters who still support the man-child despite all he's said and done are deplorable. If being called that offends you and them then maybe your alleged yearning for straight talk doesn't run very deep.
