Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and his wife Naraporn Chan-o-cha were this week presented with a special award titled "Khu Kwan Jai Phetch" (diamond heart couple) for wearing the best Thai costumes while attending the royally initiated winter festival, Oon Ai Rak Klay Kwam Nao, at Bangkok’s Royal Plaza and Sanam Suea Pa.

On Tuesday, Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat presented special awards to Cabinet members who attended a February 14 event where they were asked to match their costumes to the theme of the festival, which features picturesque structures decorated with flowers.

Commerce Deputy Minister Chutima Bunyapraphasara won the award titled "Suparpsatri Ngam Yang Thai Samai Ror 5" (Thai beautiful lady of King Rama V era), while Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam won the award "Suparpburut Rattanakosin Phaendin Ror 5" (Rattanakosin gentleman of King Rama V era).

Industry Minister Somchai Harnhirun and his wife Anchalee Harnhirun won the award titled "Ngodngam Rattanakosin Samai Apornthai Arayaniyom" (Rattanakosin era’s beautiful costume of popular Thai cloth), while Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and his wife Anurachanee Jatusripitak won the award titled "Khu Kwan Siam Samai Ngam Yang Thai Prayuk" (couple best adorning the applied Thai traditional costume).

The winter festival, which opened on February 8 and will run until March 11, features exhibitions about the life and great achievements of King Rama V and King Rama IX, and also reflects Thai lifestyles from the past until the present.

It is striking and remarkable how certain autocratic and privileged females (not referring to anyone in the pictures, of course) look incredibly uptight, nasty and, well ... evil. The outer spontaneously reflects the inner nature.

Remember the old witch, Kobkarn (Tourism Minister)?

Makes one wish to vomit, does it not?

I find it difficult to esteem a man wearing stockings and bloomers.

Oh no he isn't!

Oh yes he is!

Where boys and girls?

Behind you! The junta's behind you!

See, it's excellent pantomime costume.

edit: If only we could put it behind us in real life, rather than "carry on" in panto-mode.

Gov’t Leaders Award Themselves {everything}

Did Prawit win best dressed with an expensive watch on loan?

How about some prizes for the poor people? Best dressed Rattanakosin prai? Typical Rattanakosin slave? Rattanakosin prostitute dress? Street urchin of the Rattanakosin era?

How much prize money was there?

Poor Prawit, can't use that excuse.

And that is why they cannot see where they are going with 'advancing' their nation. The way is indeed dark! :cheesy:

As for this best dressed charade - just another back slapping exercise!

The 'peasant classes' and the brown nose brigade will be impressed - wow, look at our dear leaders. The tainted smell of communism and/or dictatorship is in the air?

What sayest thou s100? :whistling: :coffee1:
