Only the rank and file.  The cream at the top of the bottle is exempt.
My Richard Mille watch told me so.  :whistling:

I think you are quite wrong.

Talked to a person working in the local amphoe.

They don't dare to do wrong any more, several staff have been fired.

Same at the police, even in the army.

It certainly is changing now, slowly but certainly.

Never happened before.

Don’t place your hope too high. As long as the people at the top are blatantly corrupt with continuous scandals, the culture of corruption will never go away. The rank and file see that as a endorsement of corrupt practices. They may be scared now but will resume their corrupt ways when the heat is over. Deterrent will only come when top powerful and wealthy people corrupt practices get their due legal punishment.

Oh, is that right?? So they start cleaning up at the bottom and....well, end at the bottom. What a brilliant strategy - this means there's more for the people at the top!!!

Does this statement come under the Pinocchio "porkies" rankings as a bold-faced lie or a lie by exaggeration?

Really? Just recently we have seen an ex police chief call his position a second job and borrow $10m from a brothel owner, police moved from Kanchanaburi over corruption, a policeman arrested for shooting two business rivals dead, an army totally out of its sphere running a country, a top military man defy an attempt to get answers about watches, young army recruits killed, a refusal to disclose the video of a Lahu activists killing and a mass of govt officials suspected of theft from the destitute. When did this clean-up begin?

This is another 'hot air', meaningless statement from the PM.

As long as Prawit remains Defense Minister and isn't held accountable for his ostentatious display of wealth (the watches), then the PM and his entire government have no credibility on this issue.

And BTW, if I went to one of my friends and said "can I borrow a few of your expensive watches to wear for a few months?", the reply would be words in the effect of "what did you do, cut off your nads? Are you a chick? Get the hell outta here!".

Perhaps AFTER the watches and Prawit have been dealt with will you have some credibility.

"Perhaps AFTER the watches and Prawit have been dealt with will you have some credibility."

Doubt it. The way it's meandering along, the outcome is unlikely to be one that increases any credibility.

If there was a real investigation, then the source of all the unusual wealth would be thoroughly investigated, as well as the watches. That would be too risky as other politicians, senior military, police and civil servants, from all sides, could also face investigation. Ain't gonna happen.

Just like the questions about a nephew's building company, contracts and its assets; or certain statues, etc etc - the just simply fade away.

And to be fair, you can look at any recent past governments and find similar things, where questions that could be awkward for more than the initial target are suddenly allowed to never be really answered.

They all suffer from the same arrogant belief that they can still claim that "corruption is being reduced, there is no corruption in something" or come up with ludicrous explanations and fob offs and that the public will believe them.

They want farang money! Never ending story!

What about a 25 luxury watches irregularity?

PM's Office getting mighty full

I guess there aren't many mirrors around Government House for these guys to be looking at themselves closely...

Meanwhile, as for the promise, I'll believe it when I see it actually happen. Unless of course, the PM's definition of "tough action" is getting temporarily transferred to the ubiqitious "inactive post" somewhere, before then being sent back out to resume their old habits in a new location with a clean slate.

Tick tock tick tock....

‘face tough action’= transfer to less lucrative  positions

You misunderstand.  -- It's not like the "roach motel" bug traps, where the bugs go in and they don't come out.

In this motel, it's just a short stopover to allow the hubbub to calm down and then the occupant is relocated to a new post with a clean slate and able to resume their old habits.

Why does everyone see this except the PM? Or does he think that the public just swallows the crap he serves without any consideration of the facts?

You are not the public.

One would have to describe the Thai public as having the stuffing knocked out of it.

Several reasons come to mind............that he and his cronies are above the law; they think they have the right to do what they want; they are the elite so this doesn't apply to them, only others (with the occasional "sacrifice"); lack of grey matter.

This is their secret code to the businesses to provide with more protection money.

Friends exempt!

And their friends......and their close friends.....and well.....just a few more who know each other....! :-)
