If that was the performance of a young German who is too obsessed by woman to focus properly on his game and fight for his place in the Real side my name is Chubby Ancelotti or Vanker Perez.

Errr 90% of 23 year olds are obsessed by women?

And the other 10%? :)

You reckon El Pel is a shirtlifter? He often does karaoke in The Rocket on matchdays, I've never heard him do any showtunes or Bronski Beat songs.

Is it time to get the odds on the gunners for the title?

Based on evidence so far I wouldn't bet on or against any of about 6 teams. Injuries are likely to play a big part. Fancy betting which players get injured? I don't think there's much sanuk to be had in that.

Van Persie and Ozil....and of course your striker.....plenty of fun to be had. :D

Well in the '91 semi, if my memory serves me right, he was told to warm up, and choose to do his "thing" along our side of the stadium.

So there he was skipping down the touchline and came in for obvious abuse, but, rather than take it like a man he pulled the coppers and stewards and got at least one fan ejected. So he's obviously a snide little grass but i thought is was common knowledge even in Arsenal ranks he was? Does he do Erasure songs? biggrin.png

No. Remember their squad is paper thin. They are flat track bullies, start off well, hammer relegation fodder, suffer injuries over the christmas period and ultimately finish pot less.

Yep, it has been our way for many a year. Did you know we were last top after about 11 games in 2010?

Yet we always manage to get 4th, ain't that great.

What you have to remember is so far we've only played mediocre teams.

If you want to beat Chelsea and the Mancunians in the league, you really have to beat them home and away, too.

You can still get 17/1 on the tiny totts....

No doubting the achievement of your top four finishes under Wenger. It would be stupid not to acknowledge it.

However, this season will in all likelihood be the most competitive with liverpool also showing early season intent and the fact remains Wenger has left his squad threadbare in certain areas. Carzola's crocked but fortunately for Arsenal you are strong in midfield. Same could not be said upfront if the knock on Giroud's knee had been worse.

The Ozil signing merely deflects from the obvious and i'll predict right now you will be forced to buy, for top dollar players not necessarily of Wengers choosing to plug the gaps. This could be Arsenal's achilles heel.

Time will tell of course but i'm very hopeful. biggrin.png You only have to listen to Mourinho's unuseually cautious comments to see its going to be very tight at the top

Mourinho is getting all his excuses in order now, to be paraded out again later if need be.

Seems the Chavs thread is pushing up daisies. I do miss them so.tongue.png

Watching the scoreboard at The Lane when you went ahead at Sunderland really did hiss me off to be honest. Looking forwards to seeing a re-run of the match to see if it was ARSE brilliance, or Sunderland incompetence. Either way, Di Canio better get ready for his P45. I bet ARSEne is chuffed to <deleted>. Anyway you gooners enjoy while you can. Your weakness in depth will have you crawling uphill after New Year...... I hope ! One good thing is the scousers could only manage a point, and were lucky at that...... Interesting weeks ahead

I think you'll find a lot of both. If Di Canio has his team standing off a quality opposition like they did in the first half he won't last thru October!

I recall how Brucey parked the bus first day of the season at the Emirates 2 years ago - nil nil - now that's how to play Arsenal!

If you like football you'll enjoy Ozil's first half touches. P'raps not laugh.png

Considering Ozil wasn't going to play because of sickness, he did pretty well IMO, a class act indeed. His first touch and vision is superb. Worth 3-4 times more than Erikson?.......hmm, time will tell. Ramsay has really come a long way and for me he was the best player on the field. Hope Di Canio doesn't last long, can't stand the guy.

Time will tell!!!!!!!!!! The only thing that will be remembered about their respective transfers is that Ozil was slightly over priced and Eriksen was massively under priced. Although in Ajax's defense he was into the final year of his contract so they had to sell.

Time will tell that Arsenal paid over the odds for a very fine player with money they could easily afford, so no biggy there and Spurs bought Eriksen for a snip of his real worth.

Thats the only story that will be told.

Rassey has been a revelation. Man of the match in the north London derby aswell.

I liked very much what I saw of Erikson and agree he seems a real bargain. Arsenal paid over the odds but that's what happens when it's left to the very last minute. However, having said that I'm not really sure how much RM would have sold Ozil for under normal circumstances or even if they would have sold him at all, until his walking straight off after being substituted. I guess getting half the GB fee back in one hit was too big an offer to refuse.

Posted

I doubt very much Madrid would have sold Ozil had they not needed to recoup a bundle. Over the top money but who cares if you have it and he is a top quality player.

Eriksen on the other hand is a couple of years younger so lacks some of his experience but last season created 138 goal scoring chances, which i believe was more than any other player in the top 5 european leagues and in his 98 games for Ajax scored 25 goals with 43 assists. Thats phenomenal for any player, least of all a 22 year old

Time will tell if Joey Barton Barton will end up a better midfielder than Lional Messi but there aint no way Ozil is ever going to be four times more valuable than Christian Eriksen

Important match at Marseilles tonight. Whichever of us or our competitors loses at Marseilles is likely to miss the cut.

A decision was due to be made yesterday on Giroud's fitness - haven't heard the result. Ozil was a probably OK yesterday. With Podolski and half the midfield (Rosicky, Arteta. Ox) out for several weeks it could be tough to get out of this group.

Dunno how Wenger will address the striker issue tonight if Giroud is not fit. Sanogo was also unfit for Saturday and Bendtner is probably trying to get up to fitness in between ramming the sock further down his old man's gob.

Since the press are always banging on about us having the most expensive season ticket in the premiership (and they're always wrong because they quote the second most expensive option!), I wonder if they are going to do the decent thing and report that not only have we cut some matchday prices for lower category games to GBP25.50, but the club today announced that for those games they will also be selling 10 quid tickets for 12-16 year olds.

Seems a fair bet Arsenal might go for Llorente in january. Apparently not very happy at Juve, and a decent player

The new Torres with a bit of luck!

I always rated Llorente but it seems nobody is thrilled to have him anymore. Could be that Juve is playing a fast paced counter attacking game and Llorente doesn't fit. Arsenal could do worse.

He's not long signed for Juventus, has something gone wrong?

All I know Ups is that he's not getting much time and reportedly not happy. He's only 28. I think he'd be perfect for Arsenal, but Juve is playing down talk about him leaving. I really think Llorente doesn't fit Juve's current style of play. Llorente is more a traditional #9.

Mulligans in soi 11 worked fine thanks for the Marseilles game last night. 10 screens and every conceivable game showing. another couple of options along soi 11 as well at game start.

Relieved to have got a good start. Marseilles looked lively and attack minded - luckily it all broke down when goal was in sight and Mertesacker and Koscielney had another good game - have been particularly impressed how the BFG* now seems to have got the measure of the English game - looked way off the pace and out-thought in his first season, now puts in many good blocks and tackles and uses his brains to compensate for his rather lumbering style. Bit Jack Charlton'ish (for the older threads member!).

Ozil looked half the man he did against Sunderland - must have been still unwell
