Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
When I started started paying my compulsory government pension 50 years ago did I know that the government would freeze it if I retired in Thailand. This new Labour governments first major financial decision was to cut pensions. Shame on them. -

Feel sorry for AN posters who bought electric
Full house solar setup not necessary. 'Lectric bills run max 4000 if all AC's running, as low as 1500 in cooler months. My six year total would be under 200K. If a small system is cheap enough, should be easier than running power from the house. Don't drive much, car could sit for days unused and charging, so never need to use an EV station. No EV stations locally, nearest I've seen is 50km away. Car would be used for local shopping and the occasional foray into the big city or to immigration. I can keep the CNG Hilux for totin' large items and travel. If a small battery storage module is cheap enough, why waste free 'lectric? -

Four Charges Filed Against Driver in Bus Fire That Killed 23
Amazing how everybody is pointing at the driver, yet nobody is pointing at the REAL CULPRIT. The bus owner and the Minister of Transport who allows an old dodgy bus to be DANGEROUSLY modified and be on the roads. Also, the modified bus was not carrying the necessary SAFETY DEVICES (window smashers on each row, emergency door openers, NGV compartiment shielded from passengers department, etc.). This whole accident will be forgotten in a few weeks, just like the amount of passengers in a pick-up, nobody will face arrests, and Thailand will continue to be a country with the highest death toll on the roads. Shame on you THAILAND. -

Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
I hear this dumb argument often. If they worked hard they would have a pension income besides the pittance they get from the government. no, most likely they were on government dosh most of their lives. Then they watched some YouTube influencers that claim you can live in Thailand on 500 pounds a month and here they are. -

Driver Flees Scene After Attempting to Extinguish Flames in Bus Fire Tragedy
This person needs to spend the rest of his life in prison, also the bus company and the school need to be held accountable. It will happen again if the use the same old mai pen rai approach. -

Driver Flees Scene After Attempting to Extinguish Flames in Bus Fire Tragedy
I think we can all accurately imagine what state the mechanics and tyres would have been in for this apparently 600km+ round trip 🤔 -

The Tim Walz thread.
As I point out in a follow up post.....his chances of becoming POTUS will be severely curtailed if Trump wins and he has four years of Trumpism to defend in 2028. Better to come into 2028 clean cut with no baggage -

Harris Gains Momentum in Economic Debate, Closing in on Trump
Lairs are often afraid of being caught so they express fear though small movements like raising their eyebrows. Must be excruciating for him to have to defend and stand by Trump’s lies.- 1

Incredible US banking ineptness
I have several real Citibank credit cards and accounts. Nine out of ten representatives in those Filipino call centers are useless idiots. They know nothing, have no power or common sense and just waste your time. -

Four Charges Filed Against Driver in Bus Fire That Killed 23
As a new expat, I feel that the people in this country don't care about safety in every aspect of their lives is partly responsible for such tragedy. This country has a culture of taking the easy way out, the lazy way mai pen rai. don't care about safety at all. This culture need to change if they want to do better.- 1

Nice debate!
The Democrats now have a self-proclaimed "knucklehead" as their vp nominee. This goes along with a presidential nominee who makes Chauncey Gardiner sound like King Lear.
